No overdrive/4th New end clutch kit?

I recently installed a translab shift kit every since the install I don't have overdrive/4th. I thought it might be the end clutches so I replaced them with a set from ipt. Then I got a 1750 cel and limp mode so I swapped out the shift solenoids. All this and I still don't have 4th. I have all other gears and can feel the transmission shift 1st through 3rd. Any suggestions could I have done something wrong when installing the shift kit?

If I drive it for about 30 minutes it goes into limp mode and I get a p1750 CEL.

I will add that everything worked fine prior to putting in the shift kit. I followed the vfaq and ipt's youtube video when I installed the kit so I'm pretty sure its right. I also pulled the tcu and opened it up no burnt/rotting egg smell.

Okay, did you unplug anything before doing that? Check electrical connections. If that's all goo and still the same issue then I would say it's what you in stalled and how it was installed. If they were working prior to the install then that's where I would start first. Then, there is always the solenoid testing if that all fails.

4th gear is electronically engaged, so all mechanical components were installed correctly then the problem would be electronic not hydrolic/mechanical.

I went ahead and tested the solenoids The yellow wire was at 26ohms the red wire was at 18ohms the orange was at 26ohms and the blue was at 5ohms. Does that seem to be in range?

Here is a pic of an extra valve body I have but mine is exactly the same and all the solenoids are in the same spot.

Then ohm them out and see what's up

I let the car cool down overnight and checked them again this morning here is what I got: The pressure control solenoid valve (blue wire) was at 5 ohms, the torque converter clutch solenoid coil (red wire) was at 15 ohms, The shift control solenoid valve A and B coils (Orange and yellow wire) were at 23 ohms each. I applied 12v to each solenoid and they all clicked. Its gotta be something with the valve body from installing the shift kit but I'm not sure what in the valve body would control 4th/overdrive.

Did you make sure all the bolts are in correct place. If you put to long of a bolt in wrong place, no fluid is allowed to pass through the passage. I don't know which goes were. All transmissions are different. Sorry I can't help more

Probably wouldn't hurt to pull the end clutch off and inspect. I have installed the translab kit and the IPT end clutch kit and never had a problem on my sons 97 Talon AWD. ANY little nick or cut on one of the orings in the end clutch and it won't have any pressure to apply with is why I suggest looking it over for peace of mind.

In my experience when the end clutches fail the car just free revs. Does it just free rev when you put it into 4th? Or does it not even engage 4th gear at all? If you didn't have 4th before swapping the EC's, and you still don't have 4th after, i'd venture to guess the issue lies in the valvebody.

Only once in a blue moon would my sons go into 4th and try to hold, otherwise it would freewheel as if in neutral. His problem was a nick in one of outside orings and it was just a tiny nick but kept it from sealing and holding pressure.

Doesn't free rev just stays in 3rd and doesn't try to engage 4th. I had 4th prior to installing the shift kit so I'm thinking I did something wrong with the install. I just gotta figure out what part of the valve body would affect 4th gear and what I did wrong.

If it were me and my car and I knew 4th worked fine before my mods I would just have to take the shift kit back out/apart on the valve body and reinstall it to know I did it correctly. I know thats not what anyone wants to hear but it was fine before your Translab and IPT upgrade which are real good upgrades and I have succesfully done exactly what you did. After I built my sons valve body he installed a Wix filter and it was a revised version that was supposed to come with shorter filter bolts but didn't so he reused his old ones and punched a hole right thru one of the veins. We had to find another valve body and take the kit out of the ruined one and put it into a 2nd used valve body. It shifted like a dream tho.

Okay I figured out why it wouldn't shift into 4th. I didn't put the spring back in for the 2-3/4-3 shift valve when I put the shift kit in. I double checked everything else put it back in and now I don't have reverse. I pulled it again and made sure the o-ring was still on the valve body and that it wasn't torn. Anything else I can check? I drove it and it will shift into 4th but it revs up when shifting gears almost like its slipping and I don't have reverse it just revs like its in neutral.

Sounds like the end clutch kit o-ring. When i installed mine the first time to o-ring twisted and tore a little on me and caused the issues your having.

I've double and triple checked everything with the valve body so it can't hurt to take apart the end clutch and look at the o-rings. Would that cause the no reverse though? I thought the end clutches only affected 4th.
