ok guys i bought this car a few days ago its a 95 talon tsi and drove it home the next day it wouldnt start so i started workin on it, ive replaced a few things so far, cas, ect, plugs, wires, coil pack, it has spark and it has plenty of fuel and nothing worked, so today i went and got a compression tester and i did the compression check, i have no compression on any of my cylinders, the car will sit there and crank over rather fast imo, all belts turn and it will backfire when u first try to start it. soo, what does me not having any compression on any cylinder mean?

Timing belt must be a tooth or two off, this can happen on startup if the timing belt isn't tensioned properly with the hydraulic tensioner (too loose). There is a 50-50 chance that your valves might not be bent, the next step would be to see how far your timing marks are off.

if it is your timing i would get it set right and then do the compression test again before pulling off the head. had a intake gear jump a couple teeth and didnt bend a valve but it still started not very good tho

It would be almost impossible to not have a bent valve and have the timing off enough to register absolutely nothing on a compression test. Even if the timing skipped as much as it could without bending valves, the compression test would still show a low reading on each cylinder.

When we tried to start our 1995 tsi awd we had no compression in any of the cylinders. We took the head off and found that we only had two valves that weren't bent. I would check your valves. When we tried to start it, it would just try to turn over but it wouldn't.

Also, I just remembered. Last night we were taking our valves out and the valve spring compressor we have, the thing that goes over the spring to compress it wouldn't work with how close our valve springs were to the metal on one side. We had to make a special thing to put on our compressor to put over our springs. We made it out of a washer and some galvanized steel we had in the shop.

Pull your valve cover and look at your valve springs. I could tell I bent valves by how they looked. Some were in the compressed position, and the lobe was in the up location. Get a pic and post it up. There are a lot of people here that can tell just by looking at a pic.
