Hello,

I have a 93 eclipse that recently stopped running. After some review, it appeared that the ecu had failed due to the leaky cap problems. I had my ecu rebuilt (supposedly) and am not getting a CEL when I put the key in on position.

What should I check next? Or should I send the ecu back (for the 3rd time)?

Yo Jag,

What happened when it stopped running? Give me some history on the vehicle sine youu have owned it to now.

Does it turn over?

People around here are helpful, but you got to put more effort into your post: IE give us some details. Did it just die one day while driving? Or went out one day and would not start?

Was it a smoker?

Check the oil?

How long have you owned this car? When was the last tuneup?

When was the timing belt done last (have you tooken off the upper timing cover to see if the belt is ok?)?

What made you think it's the ECU?

You want help you gotta tell us your story!

Personall I think it would be worth the effort of typing to help get her goin again! :thumb:

No CEL during the first five seconds after you turn the car on indicates that the ECU isn't powering up.

First have you checked the MPI fuse on the positive battery terminal?
Then check to make sure you get 12v at pin 103 on the ECU. It comes from the room fuse #19 next to your left foot.
The ECU has to get 12v at pin 110 from the ignition switch when you turn it to run. In response it will pull pin 63 low to turn on the MPI relay. The MPI relay then applies 12v to ECU pins 102 and 107 and the ECU if it's working correctly will boot up turn the CEL on while the rest of the dash lights go through bulb check and then turn off.

If you don't have 12v on pin 103 for backup power or 12v at pin 10 of the MPI relay the ECU will not power up.

Hey, thanks for the replies @Spoolin4Ever & @steve
Not sure what life happenings got me sidetracked and forgetful to respond to this original help request 14 yrs ago but I wanted to thank you both for being there for the DSM community and myself. For this issue I ended up purchasing another ECU and that took care of it.

I have another issue now (no 5 sec CEL at IGN ON) but I'm going to start a new thread for it rather than adding to an old, separate thread.
