My 1991 GSX displays no turbo boost. The engine runs fine and the turbo was working just fine prior to my shifting from 1st gear into 2nd gear at a normal rate of acceleration. The engine sounded like it backfired and then there was no boost. The car starts up fine and runs but I have no boost. Is it possible that I have either hatched the turbo or blown a hose? Any advice would be appreciated.

So what have you done thus far to try and solve the problem? This would help diagnose the problem. Have you gone back over the entire turbo system to make sure there are no hoses or pipes that blew off at the 1st boost? What about checking the turbo itself? Let us know what steps you have taken so far to fix it.

I had a couple questions. Did you let oil get in the turbo before you drove it, or did you start it up and just go? Where did you get the turbo?I would have to guess you blew a hose off or ripped one or something because if you fried the turbo I don't think the car would run normal, just without boost. Check anything that was touched on the install and go from there. Check the intercooler pipes and any vacuum leaks.
