No axle bracket?

Okay, so I bought a non-running 2g (FWD Turbo) that needs a new engine. When pulling the engine I happened to notice that there was no axle bracket on the drivers side axle...I am a little confused as to how that happened, but can I just throw an axle bracket in there, or should I go ahead and replace the whole axle? 2gs do not have the half shaft design they have one strait shaft.

WRONG....

FWD's use a long driverside axle.....1 long shaft...
ALL AWD's use a driverside axle and intermediate shaft....2 short shafts....
The intermediate shaft has a carrier bearing on it which either bolts to the block 95-96 models or bolts to the block and a/c bracket on 97-99 models

You said it's a 2g, fwd turbo. There is no carrier bearing. It's a one piece shaft.

There used to be an equal length half shaft mod people would do to the FWD cars allowing them to run the drivers side AWD axles on a FWD car but the needed parts are long gone.

the carrier bearing and the half shafts. but i wouldnt go changing stuff around like that if its stock like it is, on my 3g i only have one long shaft.

I'm not sure if there is a difference between axles from 90 and 91-94. But all you would need is just the driverside axle and the intermeditae shaft from a 90 at the minimum....again not sure on 91+.....
Just pop your axle out pop the awd ones in voila done.....

btw I hate 90's.....the bastard child of the dsm era
