no 5th gear?

so i 've noticed my tranny not going into 5th easily and now it won't go in at all whats up? i'm guessing the fluid is low but i'm worried that maybe a bushing or a syncro is f***ed up. any ideas?

Is/was there any grinding associated with trying to put it into gear?

I would first check your shifter cable bushings and see if you can move the levers on the transmission into gear by hand to narrow down the problem.

After that, you could take off the transmission end cover and visually inspect 5th gear(only gear set under the cover). There is often a problem with the nut backing off of the gear, which will cause grinding, not exactly what you're describing but worth a shot.

I had a real hard problem getting into second after I put my tranny back in.
Turned out a bolt came out of my shifter cable mount on the tranny. and it was pivoting on the other.
Check your linkage.

no theres no grinding it just wont go into gear it's as if it's not there aanymore.

looks like it was the cables the bracket wasn't on there really at all so i put it back on and hopefully that fixed it

ya i went threw all that. but mine was much worse. the cover behind the passenger tire is where the fifth gear is. take that off and pull the synco out and look at it. you more than likly will have to replace it if it will not go or stay in gear. i learned that the hard way if anyone has ever been in there there is a nut that holds everything together well mine came loose and cracked the case and ruined the rev barring. just replace what you need and it should work just fine.
