I was just wondering what people thought of these pistons. I got my set from SBR and they originally had a mitsu part number on the box. Now when you buy them form SBR they have a Nippon part number labeled. I didn't know what people thought of them and if they are as good as mitsu pistons? better? worse? Also would you guys use the rings that come with the pistons or get a set or total seal rings or something else. Thanks Sean

Well total seal rings are rare to find. My past couple of years with DSMs, i've only been able to find 1 set of pistons that come with total seal rings. I wouldn't go with them anyhow cause you would have so much crank pressure. As far is nippon being better or worse, I do not have any expeirence on that and hopefully you'll recieve some information from others.

I actually wound up in the same situation, I had gotten some pistons from sbr and i was confused about the getting nippon pistons whenI thought I had paid for actual mitsu pistons. If it helps I did put them in the engine and have not had any problems yet, but who knows about long they will last.

Same reason i got my set from SBR.

A friend of mine told me that nippon/denso actually makes mitsu's pistons for them. does any know the truth behind that?

Nippon is the original manufacturer for that specific vehicle's motor, it may not be in a mitsubishi box however these are the people that Mitsubishi is getting them from. It's like getting spark plugs for a BMW, even tho they come in a BMW box in reality they are reboxed NGK plugs.

I use logic and know that NPR made the pistons for Mitsubishi, so they are OEM. Why do places like DSMGraveyard still say that the pistons are not truly OEM and are of worse quality?

I have NPR pistons and rings in my current motor, no issues. The mitsu symbol stamped into them gives it away as well.

I have rebuilt 3 engines with Nippon Pistons. 2 are at 20 lbs. of boost daily driven. I will continue to use them in stock rebuilds. They are OEM pistons. Mizumoauto.com $80.00 for 1G pistons and rings.
