Ok guys swapped in a new tranny/transfer case. Car now runs and shifts fine but the clutch slips soooo badly in 1st gear it barely gets the car rolling. Now I have bled the system and the clutch and flywheel only have about 1,000 miles on them. The clutch will slip in the other gears too but not as severe. Any idea's?

You sure it's the clutch?? A new clutch shouldn't slip at all and it should slip more in 3rd and 4th than in 1st. The engine has less leverage to move the car in the higher gears.

Is the tranny NEW? If it's not I'd take a look at the Viscous Coupler, it may be shot. And it's a lot easier to change than a clutch.

no i dont think it is the clutch. Where is the VC located at? The tranny that I got was a used tranny but seems to shift fine in all the gears. Would the vc cause the car to almost not move ? Once the car is rolling it seems to hold pretty good. It just wont take any good amount of throttle. But as far as driving it from point a to b if you stay out of boost it will drive. How hard is it to change the VC?

I talked to a tech today and he said he thinks it might be the pressure platel. Does this sound reasonable? He said if the clutch has plenty of material on then its probably in the pressure plate.

Any idea's????
