New To Tuning..SAFC Experts Welcome

Hey guys,

Im new to tuning my car, i had just recently got my SAFC2 installed at a local performence shop in CT named Victor Research. They have been doing my work on my car for a while now, but i havent gotten around to having them tune it. I had gotten the AFC installed when I put my 2g mas in, this was also when my car had a stock fuel system. Well, the shop ended up having to put the Hi-Thr Setting at all +25% threw all the RPM ranges, and on the Lo-Thr Setting it was at +10%. Now I understand why this was all set high because i had a very tired stock fuel pump (190k on it) and with a 2g mas, more air flow means you also need more fuel. Well I just picked up a Walbro 255 HP fuel pump and put that bad boy in. Now I just run really rich, which is understandable because of such a bigger fuel pump. I recently dynoed my car and with the settings still the same I made 219whp and 240ftq. Also check profile for car mods. Now with the setup that I have currently what should my afc settings be at?? It needs to change because Im getting horrible fuel mileage and i feel like its just getting bogged out. Ide appreciate the help alot guys.

hey bro i got a safcII, gm maf with translator, and a 255lph fuel pump and i have my settings like this....

low-2k and up -10%
high-2k and up -25%

AND IM STILL RUNNING LEAN, so on these sertings not only will you not get fuel cut (if ur running over 12 psi) put youll get better fuel milage too

ill post back i just got a logger and ill let you knwo what i set them at then, just to tune things up all nice..

wow are u kidding me??? im +25 and +10 and ur like negative 10??? i dont understand that then....oh ya if this means anything my low throttle is at 30 and my high is at 80

You need an AFPR with a 255 pump.

Get a 255lpm, afpr, and minimum 550's and get on a dyno asap with a wideband.

yeah better not half ass it. get all the requied crap and go back to VR and have them Dyno it all for you. they are great guys and will bring your car far.

Do you have a logger? You need to monitor fuel trims for low throttle settings, and monitor knock and timing for the hi settings. No you do not need a afpr, over running of the regulator is a 2g issue.

eh man i duno about not having a FPR, the 255 HP fuel pump that i have is def. overloading the stock FPR.

basicly what i am asking is what the settings are set at rite now, could they be better, could i lower them some more??

How do you know it's over running the reg? If it is maybe the regualator is bad, honestly the low settings don't seem to be bad if your running a 2g mass and 450's. But without a logger to monitor fuel trims it's just a guess.
