tdo6h 20g w/ external gate.

thought some of you would like this...

shooting for 360whp, 22psi, pump gas.
setup is 264, 272's
extrude honed intake manifold
2.5inch downpipe
2g mas
780cc injectors
garrett race core fmic

You should be able to hit your goal easily. If you take it to a dyno take a vid and post it. That would be super awesome.

Great looking car!!! :thumb:

Congrats.

You should easily be able to make 400whp on pump with that setup, but do you have an EPROM chip scaled for the injectors? If not, you're gonna have a hard time running over 20psi with the inflated timing the AFC/injector compensation will cause.

Tort ran almost the same setup, when he was still on the 264/272s, FMIC, and 2.5" exhaust his best was around 11.5 @ 121. That was on VP103 and a VPC/550s though, so it was a little easier to keep knock under control.

Good point about the ECU.... If you don't have an EPROM for the injector scaling, you could always use E85 as it won't require you to pull as much into the negative field on the SAFC and is a thousand times better for power than pump gas...just a thought..definitely get some dyno footage

ecu is chipped.

...just waiting on a few small parts, then i'll get it tuned.

LOL ! I think brown goes with grey don't you :) That's the first thing I noticed with chet's car, repainted wiper arms. . .

Chet, which tuning solution are you looking at using?

not sure yet, probably whatever i get a good deal on.

i have an ostrich setup in the garage...but may go with dsmlink or aem ems.

350whp would be great...since 20g's spool as well as they do.

here are a few pics.

Oil Feedline Fittings...fitting on right was made by local shop. Fitting on Left fits a 16g. Fitting on right was made by JB Automotive in St Pete to fit the 20g.

Second Pic is where i'm at...

I got it from Jerry Dombrowski aka Lancerman in tampa.

He found the turbo on ebay...then set it up for external gate...etc.

The greddy 20g's are pretty expensive if you get them new.

The FP 20g is probably very similar and has to be a better deal...which is what i'd get if i were buying brand new.

Alright thanks man. The fp turbo is smaller than a td06h tho, it's a td05 exhaust wheel.

i would put that ostrich in use. if u read enough in the ecuyahoo group. youll be able to do everything u can with dsmlink and more with code changes. Also look into dsmap, which is a speed density conversion and free software. Thanks to the smart people on the yahoo group and a little research on my end, i run speed density through burning a chip and never have to use that piece of shitemass air again. tunerpro is also great free software for burning a chip. check out hwnd.org for the basic code changes!

anyways, nice setup! you should be able to hit your goal all day with a good tune

I know all the 20g variations. The only one offered standard by FP right now (ie. you can find it listed and click to buy) is the 6sl2. This is the turbo i was referring to. Amber at fp gave me the break down of 20g's as i wanted to know where the 6sl2 stood. She said i can of course call them and custom order a td06h 20g.

Here was her reply:

Of the turbine wheels available, here is how they break down from smallest to largest:

TD05
TD06-SL2
TD06
TD06H

Having the TD06-SL2 turbine wheel is like having a "clipped to hell" TD05 wheel. It allows for faster spool up more similar to the TD05, but overall top end power is more similar to the TD06 wheel. Our 20g-6SL2 turbo flows 650cm and 44lb/min.

Hence why i decided to stick with going for a td06h as i want max power available in a 20g so i don't end up asking myself "what if".

He suggested i buy the 6sl2. I'm trying to explain that the 6sl2 is "inferior" to the td06h and not really a substitute in my opinion.

The td05 comment was referring to the fact that the 6sl2 is really close to the td05 and not as capable as the "monster" td06h wheel. I should have not stated that it's a td05 wheel but rather that its really close to one in terms of power output.

I hope this makes more sense LOL.

Well. Im sure that the td06sl flows quite a bit more than the td05h. The AMS dyno of the small 16g vs. the td06sl 18g shows the td06sl turbine wheel was up 27whp and 10ft-lbs of torque over a td05h turbine wheel in the same turbine housing. Now, I know you may be thinking that the compressor wheel has something to do with that but the boost level was at 21psi for both and the 16g is clearly NOT pushed to the limit. So the difference is more horsepower per psi. This translates into more flow per psi. The td06sl wheel flows quite a bit more, given the same surroundings
