It's been awhile and now own a Mustang but the Dsm bug is biting once again and may sell it to get another. I swore that if I ever got another it's gonna have a 20g cause it's my favorite turbo. But can't remember if it comes with an internal gate or if you HAVE to get an external. I know I could get a smaller 18g that's internal and cheaper and bolt right into the car that I'm looking at getting but it's still not a 20g. Thanks for any info.

Scott

Let it be known that my Mustang is an 88 Foxbody notchback and I have just about everything I need to install a T67 turbo on it but the dsm bug is getting to me. Just depends on if I can sell the Stang.

Doesn't your user name seem ironic?

Whether you need an external or not depends greatly (if not solely) on the amount of boost you plan to run and no, I'm not talking about boost creep when running low boost, I'm talking about holding higher boost levels.

Most 20g's I've seen (and most turbos in general these days) do NOT come with an internal wastegate. If you look at the websites, they usually say 'Available with an optional internal wastegate for an extra $100 or arm and leg.' FP's 20g's are all set up for external, either off the O2 housing or turbo manifold. Internal is again, an expensive option.

Yes I know. Lol. I had the same s/n on all the local forums as well and had to change it to V8s_aren't_slow. Lol.

I was looking at the picture of the one on Buschur's site and could see the arm to the flapper so wasn't real sure if it had one or not. Going external isn't a problem for me at all, just couldn't remember how it came. And then I was wondering if it'd be enough for the exhaust to get thru if the external was mounted as an O2 dump or if it needed to be mounted on the manifold.

We ran an internal gate on Tort's 20g and it held 28psi to redline no problem. The key is making the actuator line up with the swingarm correctly so it has enough travel that you can put some pre-load on it.

If it has an actuator, it's an internal but I would call and make sure instead of relying on a picture off the website, I'm sure they offer both options.
