Hello to everbody in this forum. I'm new to all of this so from time to time I may ask a foolish question or two so bear with me. I just recently purchased a 1991 Talon TSi Turbo FWD for $7,600.00 Canadian and the Car was in MINT condition, never winter driven, always stored indoors, 100,000 kms., one owner (A Doctor) who always did the regular maintenance and anything else that needed to be done, and always a couple of good coats of Mother's Wax on her. She is in Pristine condition on the inside as well as under the hood, Pictures will follow soon so you can see for youself. What do you think? Also, I plan on doing some modifications, nothing outrageous but enough to put her around 250 HP. I'm thinking a mechanical boost gauge mounted on a single A Pillar Pod, a K & N High FLow Air Filter System to replace the whole stock can filter that is there now, and a new blow-off valve...Does this sound reasonable? That would do it for mods under the hood for now. The rest would be looks items like 17" Sniper Rims, and a neon purple ground effect kit.

Let's here those comments...I'm new to this stuff so all advise and help would be appreciated. ;)

I was given my new car by my older brother, but the front bumper is missing the side reflectors, anyone has some extra ones? Or where can I buy some? Thanks

:talon:

Shoot, I just got rid of my old amber ones. Figures...once I get rid of something, I always find a use for it.

If you want stock, most people (including myself) would just give them away and just have you pay for shipping.

I got clear ones and they aren't as ricey as I thought, they look pretty good on a black car. Here is the link to some ebay markers.

I've completed negotiations for a 1992 Eagle Talon TSi. It's got 63,359 original miles on it, and about 95% of those are freeway miles. The previous owner was the original owner, and it took her 12 years to put that much mileage on it.

Is there anything I should look for as far as maintenance is concerned? I've looked through the forums and the FAQs to see if there are any specific problems that I'd need to address, but I've found nothing so far.

My plans are, at first, to replace the spark plugs and wires, replace the air filter with a K&N, and replace the timing belt, balance shaft belt and water pump. I also plan on modifying the stock air can and also running a 10 guage lead from the battery to the fuel pump, as set out in the Vfaq.

I have a friend with a 91 TSi AWD that is upgrading from an Apex AFC and 450cc injectors and he wants to sell them to me for $300. Is that a good idea for me and if so, what kind of gains will I see? My over all goal for the car is to get to about 300 HP, and keeping the car's appearance stock. I want to make it a good sleeper, any advice?

Good job on your purchase. AFC itself isnt that bad, but the 450cc's, arent those stock ones? Im pretty sure those are stock injectors on turbo dsm's and you already have them in your dsm. Try seeing how much you can find the AFC for new and compare it to the price of your friends used one.

congrats on the NEW Eagle Talon TSI !! 450's are stock on ALL turbo DSM's EXCEPT 1G Auto cars.

SAFC I blue screens are everywhere for around $150-$175.

Take care of that car., and may it give you many miles of happiness.

By the way, it is an automatic... out of necessity, not preference...

Can't wait to see what she can do...

they come with 390's stock and for the afc and injectors it's a good start but see if you can talk him down, you can find the injectors on ebay for about 50 bucks shipped and the afc for about 150, i have an automatic and trust me you want to get those injectors swapped ASAP. when you start modding that thing those 390's will not subdue at all!

You should use them 300 to get an exhaust.

I was thinking custom 2.5" cat-back with a straight through free flow muffler, but I want to keep it relatively quiet. The guy that did the exhaust on my Contour did the whole system for $200 including a magnaflow muffler. Does anyone know the stock diameter of the exhaust on this car off hand? I've been searching for it and I can't find anything...

Negotiations fell through due to a "misunderstanding" on their part... they thought I was going to give them $500 AND a 1 year IT maintenance contract worth $2,400 for their Talon that doesn't run right.

I re-renegotiated and got the car. I have the title and it's mine! MUWAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

I just did a few things today:
New NGK OE plugs
New BOSCH plug wires
removed plastic limiter thing from stock boost controller
gutted MAF honeycombs
Cleaned the Throttle body
installed a real BISS screw and removed the retarded bolt+electrical tape that the previous owner put in there ( OMG :barf: )
Tried to file down the edges of the flapper in the Throttle Body so the throttle wouldn't stick closed any more. It was really bad. I think I have to do more to it later, but we had limited tools and we did the best we could.

Anyway, I'm loving every minute of this car so far. I can't believe I waited this long to get one!

My exhaust was 2" soi figure yours prolly is too. I say go a 2.5 downpipe into a 3 inch catback. Best gains for 300 hp mark i say.

Yea you have 390cc injectors and a 13g turbo, so the 450cc injectors would help but i would start off spending money on something else like a cat back

There's something wrong with my login, so I re-registered as L0G1C...

Anyway, I think that's what I'm going to do after I get all the regular maintenance done on it...

by tomorrow i will a owner of a 1998 eagle talon tsi. this will my first turbo driven car i have owned. i would like to know so of the do's and don't of owning a turbo driven car. along with"must haves" :talon:

Probably one of the most important things, which goes for all cars, is to just keep up on maintenance really well.

Also turbocharged basics-
1. Try to avoid hammering on the car right after you start it- you should definitely let it warm up some.
2. Do NOT turn the car off immediately after driving, especially if you were driving hard. This is the purpose a turbo timer serves, but you can just let the car run for a min or two if you don't have a timer. Failure to do so has been proven to cause early turbo failure.

:thumb: Most importantly, welcome to the DSM Community and have fun with it. :dsm:

well what i would probaly do is install a remote starter. i had no choice, i had to get a automatic. which really sucks ,  :thumbdown but i will have to deal with it.i would also like to know which oil is better , syn or regular oil. this car is gonna be my daily driver. at what mileage should i make my oil change
