I would just like to say that i was suffering from crippling phantom knock.
I just replaced my knock sensor, the only knock i am seeing now is in 1st. gear and between 1-3k and it is between 10-20 counts, It is from lifter tick. It is very cold here and once the car warms up for a while it goes away. I am going to do an oil change tomorrow since i am pretty much do, and see if that gets rid of the knock for good! The knock sensor i took out was totally shot. i could see the screw and the inner workings, all the goo was gone! If you are dealing with the same thing as i was then i would suggest getting a new knock sensor!:)

that is deinately in the works, i am going to be putting in a nice strong timing belt in this spring so i will have an excuse to pull the cams. what a difference the knock sensor made though, night and day! the car pulls like hell now!
