i want to upgrade my fuel system to run over the sock boost.
i want to buy 550 cc's and 225 walboro, but i heard that i would need a VPC fpr them to work properly, but it costs damn much. is there anything else i can do? :talon:

You heard wrong. You'll need an AFC. There are other alternatives to control the airflow readings to conpensate for the bigger injectors, but they're trivial. You'll also need a fuel pressure regulator. Get an SX unit or Aeromotive unit. The sponsors can help you.

If you are only planning on using 550cc injectors than you should have no problem just running a walbro 190lph fuel pump...With the 255lph, like they said, you will have to purchase an AFPR...This will cost you an additional $150 or so for the FPR plus another 100 for the lines. Then when you begin tuning for the upgraded fuel system you will need an AFC to tune and a datalogger to log your pulls.

I am not trying to push you away from the other peoples advice but I am just letting you know there is another option. Basically, if you get the 550's, you'll be safe with a 190, but if you go with the 255, get an AFPR and you will be fine plus running more fuel + boost...Make sure you read up more on the S-AFC, its features, and how it works because tuning is a complicated process.
Have fun!

The reason you need an SAFC is because of the larger injectors. You can upgrade your fuel pump without needing one. But if you upgrade your injectors, then you will need some sort of fuel control. Also since you have a 92, you will NOT need an AFPR to run the 255 pump. Everyone is going to tell you that you need one because that is what they read somewhere, and they needed it on there 2g. A 255 will not outflow a 91-94. If you don't believe me, then just contact AMS and ask them.

How bout if you get a dsmlink? Would you need an s-afc and fpr also? I thought with the dsmlink you could control pretty much everything without needing another controller?

If you have dsmlink, then no you won't need an SAFC. You only need one controller, not 2. An AFPR is needed if you're fuel pump is pumping too much fuel and is overrunning your stock one. The way to fix that is an aftermarket AFPR. But again, if you're running a 91-94 fpr/fuel rail, then a 255 will work just fine.

I have a 92 and my base fuel pressure was in the mid 50's with a 255 pump at idle with the stock regulator...

You need the afpr to make sure you have linear fuel pressure. If your fuel pressure isn't linear it will make tuning a headache. Also the ecu doesn't see fuel pressure so you can change it and bump the entire fuel curve richer or leaner without affecting timing advance or whatever so it helps with tuning alot...

anytime you change from the stock pump whether it be a 190 or a 255, if you don't put a reg on you're doing it half ass

You guys crack me up. If you think you need an AFPR, then go ahead and put one on your car. You COULD spend that money elsewhere to actually make your car faster, but hey thats just me. I dont know anything about building fast reliable cars or anything.

I had a 1992 FPR that you claim would not be overrun on my car, clearly it was being overrun because of the excessive pressure at idle so that alone should be proof enough for anyone and should shoot down your claim. But if you dont belive me then look at this screen shot i took of caps it shows the exact same part number between 90's and 91-94.5 for MT turbo so they are the exact same part. If 90's get overrun then they all do...
