New headgasket. Smoking from under IM and won't start

I replaced my headgasket with a Mitsu Mls. Used L19s and pleanty of arp lube. Torqued in the proper sequence up to 90lbs. Now it cranks and puffs smoke out from under the intake manifold. Could there not be a propper seal between the head and the block? Or could this be something else that sounds familiar to somebody.

Did you have the head milled and the block decked correctly?

I feel dumb. I went from a 2g to a 1g intake mani and tb and somehow missed the huge vac port that's next to the coil pack. Definitely where the exhaust smoke was coming from. Won't start but I think that's because I flooded it when I was doing a compression test (didn't remove the injector clips). So I'll try and clean that out and see how it goes. Compression was 170 on all four btw.

Well,. hopefully it's a quick fix. Pull your spark plugs out and let it vent for a bit and see what happens after that.

Crank the car over with the gas pedal floored. DSMlink has a feature called "Cranking fuel cut".

If the throttle is wide open while cranking, injectors are shut off. This seems to help clear out flooded conditions produced while attempting to start in REALLY cold environments.

Thanks guys but it turns out that the head didn't seat/seal properly. When doing a boost leak test I can hear air going through the coolant hoses at only 10psi.
