I am new here. have some experience with DSM. i want to know what are the best injectors for a stock 420a.
I am currently trying to upgrade my engine slowly to build some performance, as my engine is stock and weak.

You don't have to worry about fuel upgrades until you start making drastic changes like higher compression pistons, also you would need something to tune with if you upgrade to bigger injectors.

Is your maintenance up to date? if not I would do that first following by complete exhaust, air intake and MSD coil and wires. There is not a lot of gains you are going to see on a 420a motor.

Some maintenance yes, but i was told that i need a tranny flush. i want to do everything my self. but i dont know how to flush a standard tranny. I just ordered a whole new exhaust system that i will have put on. The coil is stock, but i have replaced wires and plugs with NGK.

Honestly i would just get the maintenance up to date and ignore power mods all together. Theres a magazine link floating around where there they dyno'd $1200 worth of bolt ons and picked up 4hp and 9ft/lb's. Including a margin of error the car gained basically nothing. Could have lost hp even.

Handling, appearance, and maybe a muffler for sound and i'll bet you'll be much happier with the money you spent.

If you really want to mod the 420a go for a neon. They're 1000lbs lighter.

I'm spraying a 35 shot on my stock 420a with Intake, Megan Racing headers, exhaust with cat delete, MSD, Unorthodox pully, it feels decent but not as fun as a GST.

Best $500 for the 35 HP though.

@built 97 so far i dont really like it at all because of the limitations, and how weak it is.

@91stocker its not that i want to mod the 420a, id love to own the GSX... its just where im from they are very hard to find and people want a ton of money for them. I also personally hate neons, even though my car is practically a neon .

If i was to get hardened internals and like stage 2 or 3 cams with a tune would i see any good gains? or would this be a waist of money?

The most extreme n/a builds make around 200hp and run low 14's/high 13's in a gutted car on slicks.

Those motors just dont respond well to mods and the chassis is too heavy for a legitimate starting point of a n/a 4 cyl build.

Lets see cams + a tune would be several hundred dollars.

Even more if you don't install it yourself.

And there's no DSMLink for 420a's so what are you planning on tuning with?

You'd get more gains from a $400 Nitrous kit. I run a 35 shot on my 420a, stock internals, no issues.

+ That's in the Arizona heat.

You can get away with a 55 shot all day, I'm just spraying 35 because I'm a *****.

That is the best gains you'll ever get out of a 420a unless you go turbo which you should in all honestly just get a 4G63T powered motor.

Trust me you don't want to spend money on a 420a. I've learned that the hard way before I got my GST.

420a in a 2g is a money pit. Unless you go with a turbo kit or nitrous. And just say "f*** it" and run it untill it blows up. If you do it right and build it "hardened" by the time you spend the cash and effort to get it to make STABLE AND RELIABLE power you will have spent the price of a GST. I picked up my GST for $3000.

Just drive the Mitsubishi Neon for what it is- A bastard hybrid of bad ideas meant to cater to the entry level economy sports car shopper.

Nothing wrong with owning it. If your dead set on modding it then no one can stop you. Follow your heart, your wallet wont thank you but every mans car is there own mission. I'm sure there are many great/fast 420a builds. So do some research and see what your options are.

Yeah my first Talon TSI was 2600, my current GSX was 3500. Not very hard to find cheap cars if you're patient.

I wouldn't buy it, it has to much done and you can't be positive everything was done right. I would say it's best to find a completely stock dsm to start with so every mod on it is what u want.

C'mon man just spray some nitrous. It's pretty fun, well except for the part where you gotta re-fill the bottle!

The car has DSMlink, so if OP is serious about buying it, he could ask the owner for a few logs from the car.

Analyze those for any problems like knock etc

i went and took a look at it today and it all looks good, has quarter size hole on edge of strut tower and wheel fender (where they meet) trunk hatch has some rust, and there is s top end tick/whine at high rpms

other than that it looks and sounds solid. has no turbo leaks, no CEL. nothing that looked wrong besides those few things mentioned.
