i have a 1995 gsx and drove my car to work one day then about an hour later went to start it up and it would turn over but no fire. So i towed it back to my house, checked for fuel, good there, then checked for spark and nothing. so i replaced my coilpacks with brand new ones and still no spark. So then i changed out my CAS and still nothing. just wondering if anyone had any ideas. thanks in advance

Have you checked that the coils themselves are getting spark? Double check fuses if you haven't already, then ECU. Also, as dumb as this may sound check your battery.

so i checked the coils and there getting power. checked all connections and everything looks good. battery terminals are good to go as well. i will check the ecu. is there any other fuses that could have blown or anything, because the problem was so abrupt that it just seems like that would be it. crazy DSM's???? who knows. thanks

By the coils getting power, do you mean you pulled out the plug wires from your coil pack and saw sparks shooting out from all 4? If so, reconnect the plug wires to the coil pack and test each plug wire to see if your tester or plugs or whatever you choose to use is getting spark.

i checked the coils with a test light. the wire in the rear that connects to the coils. it is getting power when the key is on, but i have checked every plug by taking the plug wire off then plugging in the spark plug and grounding it and no spark.

If this is true have you tried a different set of plug wires? Also, what I was talking about in my last post was to disconnect the plug wires from the coil pack itself, then see if there is actually spark coming out of the coilpacks (and most likely arcing off the intake manifold plenum. If you aren't comfortable doing this then I would suggest at least testing another set of spark plugs.

is the only way to check the ecu, is check it with a pocket logger?

no.. if your ECU is getting power you can tell by simply turning the car from ACC to ON. if you do that and your stock boost gauge moves to zero, then you are OK.

have you checked your crank angle sensor? I'm not sure if they are the same on 2ga's (almost sure) but your crank sensor may not be operating.. (trust me,I just went through the same BS for a month now about why my car was getting no spark..)

here's your check list:
1. ignition coil pack
2. resistor pack (to the left of your coil pack, it's a plug)
3. plugs
4. wires
5. CAMshaft angle sensor
6. CRANKshaft angle sensor

perhaps check your starter too...

ok looks like i will check my crankshaft angle sensor. ok, when i replaced my camshaft angle sensor, they called it the crankshaft angle sensor, so are they both the same type of sensor? also if anyone has a picture of the location of the crankshaft angle sensor it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton for all of your guys feedback.

not sure if it's the same on the 2ga, but on 2gb's the cam sensor is up top on the pass side of the intake cam.. and the crankshaft sensor is located on the bottom of the block behind the crank pulley...

I would see if it's the same thing, because i know 1g's only have one sensor for both teh cam and the crank..

yes the CKP could be the culprit.
The 2g should all have both sensors.

If the CKP was bad then the ECU would never know when #1cyl is at TDC. Therefore it would never send a spark.
Same things with CAS, but CAS tells when it's TDC compresion stroke.

Did you check igniter?

Edite:
Oh; and the Cam Angel sensor, if it goes bad well driving, then the car will still run. But, when you go to start it up it will not run. The Crankshaft Position Sensor will stop you dead in your track if it takes a crap.

So, you say the car did'nt start after you turned it off yourself?

ya when I turned off the car, and about an hour later went to start it up again it wouldnt start. What do you mean by ignitor?? Also is changing out the crankshaft position sensor as big of a project as the CAS was? Thanks

Crank sensor is a bigger project. It's real easy to put a 1g CAS on your car.Don't have to mess with timing belts and such .Probably cost less.Takes about 20 minutes to install one.I have one with 2g plugs on it for when i go to buy crankwalked 2gs.The ignitor is just to the left of your coil.

Well I ordered my crank sensor today so it should be here by friday. So im crossing my fingers that its the problem.

Why buy new parts if that may not be the cause? You should really invest in a repair manual and DVOM, it's cheep and will save you lots of money. I mean vs buy everything that could be wrong.

ok well now that the forums are finally back up. well I went to change out my crank position sensor and found that my balance shaft belt had broken and severed the sensor right off. So I went ahead and changed my balance shaft belt, timing belt, and crank position sensor. Well went to start her up and still not a spark anywhere. im getting ready to blow this car up. LOL. Thanks

this may sound stupid, but make sure the protruding side of the crank sensor is facing IN so that the crank trigger blade passes through it. if you're still not getting spark on all four, try the camshaft angle sensor

Replace the ignition module, aka the power transistor. I would say that is your problem.
I am thinking transistor also. others have said it before but it doesnt sound like you have checked it. Those are a common problem for ignition problems. Also did you check the spark plugs wires??? You say the coil get power but no spark at the plug it could be the wires.
