will a 97 dohc dodge neon head fit on a 97 dohc talon???

how would i tell the differance between a 420a and the 4g63??? and yes it is a talon esi, the guy i'm trying to buy it from broke a timing belt about 2 years ago and i have 3 neon heads, and i'm trying to c whats the max amount of money that i'd be butting in to the talon to get it running again, he pry bent a vavle, so at worst i have to change a piston and rod or 2 and some bearings, but hell of a bargain for a 97 esi with a perfect body for only $500....

If the talon has the 420a motor than yes. The neon and talon esi had the same motor and tranny. it should work fine for you

No, not at all! The blocks and transmissions are nearly identical, but the cylinder heads are opposed to each other 180*. A Neon cylinder head will not fit on a 2GNT Eclipse under any circumstance. I believe only Avengers and a couple cloud cars from around the same years have swappable heads.

2G N/T DSMs have the 420A engine. Factory turbocharged engines were the 4G63.

Clean up your posts a little; use more periods, and don't abbreviate simple words like "probably."

An easy way to tell if it's the 420a is to see what side the timing belt is on, on 420a's the timing belt is on the left hand side. Also look on the valve cover. The 420a (chrysler) motor will say DOHC 2.0L on the valve cover. The Mitsubishi motors will say DOHC 2000 on the valve cover.

Intake and exhaust are flipped on the Neon motors, so NO it will not directly bolt right in, some parts will be fine, but it will NOT bolt in directly.

Certain Dodge Avenger motors will bolt in, but otherwise just N/T Talon and Eclipse motors go in that engine bay.

You CAN however use the NV-T350 manual transmission from any Neon, but if it's pre 2000's you will have to swap the bellhousing and use your hydraulic clutch assembly. Plus doing that you get the choice of either a 3.55 or a 3.94 final gear (3.94 being what's in the N/T Eclipse to begin with)

Hope all this information helps!

What pisses me off... is the Eclipse is a sports car yah? Neon's a lil grocery getter... The damn RT has more HP then the Eclipse GS! BEW SHOIT!

Because they thought about air flow. In through the front and out through the back. No corners, grr

I dont think it would really matter being that the "eclipse" does technically have a turbocharger option as well. So our cars are the lower powered option of the "eclipse." What does the lowest powered option of a neon make? 132hp I do believe. Soooo we win. haha.

I bought my car originally for the looks anyway with the intention of modding later which I am doing and 99% of Eclipse owners do :) but not nearly as many neon owners.

Basically I am saying that you would mod it anyway whether it had 200hp to start off with or 140hp.

Uh huh... shall we get back on topic?

How do I swap a 4g63 motor in my GS? I need more power and herd they are faster.

;) :p
