I recently traded my 1g n/t for a 2g awd turbo and i managed to get the bad end of the deal. The car has broken down on my twice and i don't have the money to keep fixing it so i am trading it for my brothers 95 neon with the 420b sohc motor. He has almost everything you can do to the car done to it other than a turbo but it still isn't all that fast. Anyways i was wondering if anyone knew if the 420a head bolted up to the 420b block and if so how much wiring is there? This might not be the right place to ask but i did not know where else to go. Also will the srt4 head work? Maybe i'm just used to hondas LOL.

First of all, there are 2 differant type of 420A heads. The one that comes in the Neon and the one that come in 2gn/t's, avengers, etc. The only one that'll work (bolt -on) is the one that comes on the Neons. As far as what else you need to do I don't know. Pm All Motor Mike on here.

Why does the 2g awd turbo car keep breaking down? Can it not be fixed? Im sure after you fixed it where it doesnt break down as much you would be alot more happy with it than a neon, not that I have anything against them.:dsm:

Fix the AWD turbo car, you'll be happier in the end. If you can't afford to fix it, you have options. Go to the bank with the title and tell them you want a loan against the car to repair it. you'll be making payments on it, but as long as the repairs aren't huge you should be able to pay it off rather quick and build your credit at the same time.

Then when it's payed off you can do the same thing again for upgrades. As long as you have a job i dont' see the bank turning you down unless you have HORRIBLE credit. I've got a loan for repairs like this before back when i popped the motor on my 89 LX 5.0 mustang when i did a custom turbo setup and was too broke to buy a new shortblock after throwing a rod out the side of the motor.

And worse case scenario, you could whore yourself out ( to women if you're good looking, to homosexual men if you're not LOL ) Just depends on how bad you want to go fast... Ever see Basketball Diaries? LOL j/k about that part, but what the hell, if you look like Brad Pit or K-Fed you might be able to make some money off the lonely housewives in your area!

Getting a loan against your own car is not a good ideal if you tight for cash. First, I doubt a bank is going to grant a loan on a vehicle older than 10 years considering blue book values and the fiasco in the home mortgage area. Now if they did grant a loan, the interest rate would build for more than the loan. Used car loans and private loans carry some of the highest interest rates. You would probably be looking at somewhere between 12 and 30% interest depending on credit history. Long story short, you would spend allot of money on interest that could have been used for something else.

Id suggest taking the car to a mechanic and getting it looked at, one that does free estimates, even $50 to have the car looked over is cheap. From there decide if the car is worth the money, or just a pit ready to drag you in.

If it ended up being something not too expensive, fix the awd. You wont touch the fuel economy of the neon, than again, if your worried about fuel expenses, a turbo isn't exactly the way to go.

My girl got a loan against her 97 neon last year for more than it's value at 14% interest.. not the best, but hey she got more than blue book value. ( 2700 bucks ) The payments arent' that high ( a little over 100 bucks a month). If you have a good banking history and good credit you can get a signature loan, or with collateral ( the car) you can get even more .... There's nothing wrong with borrowing against your car if you need teh money and want it fixed IMO.

Now i agree you should get an estimate first so you know how much to borrow. But for those people who aren't rich and who's parents jsut wont toss them cash. Gettng a loan is a responsible and smart thing to do. At least it's better than making the money illegally. And like i stated before if he's young and needs to build credit, it's a great way to do so.

As long as he's got a job and can make teh payments, it's better than settling for something less than what he wants. I bought my car with a loan, I bought my motorcycles with a loan, and now they are all payed off ( well one more year on the bike), and now, after paying off 2 cars and 2 motorcycles I have the credit to buy a house easily. THis world we live in is based on credit, even your insurance rates vary by your credit score. So I say why not? But if like you said "fuel expense" is a concern, then maybe he doesn't make the money needed to make a loan payment. But either way, a persnal loan is going to be way less than putting it on a credit card (which i have done all too much of and now owe 10's of thousands haha ) but when i couldn't walk for almost 7 months ( at least enough to work in my field of construction ), I had to put a lot of things on the cards, and if it weren't for building good credsit i would have most likely had to sell most of my possesions to make it through that tough time.

All in all it's his deision and only he knows if he can afford to fix it outright, or afford to make payments. I was simply saying that there is an optin for him if he wants to keep the turbo car. ( i would )
