i just bought a running and driving 95 gsx awd 5-speed for 1,200.00 and just out of curiosity, i decide to pull the ecu to see what was in there.( if it was a eprom). to my amazement, the car is set up with a dsmlink chip. so i talk to tom, and give him the numbers off of it. it is set for 450cc injectors, and a 7500 rpm limit. the car is bone stock, and i have a cable to run it on the way.
is their any point of trying to tune it?
if i buy 650cc or evo injectors, will i be able to compensate for them with the chip that is in the car?
i plan on running a 16g with ALL supporting mods, but for the time being, i still wanted to learn how to tune with the link on a stocker.
please do not respond with ignorant comments, but instead with valid information. thank you
oh btw, it is the v2 version, not the new one out. and i have used the v2 before, so i did not want to upgrade just yet

Yes, the chip will work with any sized injectors. The reason there was ever injector sizes burned in the chip was so the car could limp home if the tune was lost. With the new V3 software (which works with the V2 chip) you can save your tune anyways.. so if you lose it.. just reload your tune.

To setup your injectors, just enter in the correct global value available on dsmlink's wiki.

Will the power increase from a tune on a stock car be night & day? no. Is it worth it to tweek the stock tune? yes.

The stock tune is very rich ~9.5:1 at WOT, you can pick up some power by leaning it out abit, typically ~11:1. Also probably abit of room to bump up timing as well. So, no you won't see huge gains but there are gains to be had.

Yes V2 can compensate for basically any size injector but it has no memory, so if you lose battery power, the setting revert back to the default burned settings. Its fine if you have the laptop with you, as you can just load the old tune/compensation back in but without a laptop your SOL. Thats why most get a new chip burnt when they swap injectors, while running V2 that has proper compensation for their current injectors.

With the current V3 version, this is no longer an issue as the chip has built in memory (& you should be able to upgrade to V3 for $175 if wanted & is defently a worth while upgrade for the cost)

With that being said, these are both very common questions & could have been answered with a simple search on here (which is typically why people post ignorant comments in the first place)
