So I just bought my Eclipse a couple months ago. I got the money from getting my last car totaled. (got rear-ended) So I make about $100 dollars a week. And so far I already have a system in it. A aftermarket tach. And a throttle body spacer. Bought the car with a intake on it. But I'm looking for cheap ways to increase my performance. Remember, cheap ideas.

Since you make $400 a month I suggest you do the most important thing someone can do to their 13 year old car, MAINTENANCE. If the timing belt has 60,000 miles on it or more it needs changed and it isn't cheap to do. Download these ---> 2g Service Manuals

Follow the upgrade paths, thats what they are there for! 2g 4g63t HP Upgrades

look at the free upgrades on vfaq, Mataince, rip out the insides of the catalac converter or just get an exaust, bore out the exaust manifold, plugs and wires, walbro 190 fuel pump or rewire the stock, prothane motor mounts, hard smic pipeing, evo 3 intake manifold and/or exaust manifold, 14b turbo, PR fmic, boost contoler, gauges are needed like a wideband air fuel mixture also a boost gauge, 1g cams, evo 560 injectors. Some off the top of my head.

Edit: +1 on posts above!

His cars not even a GS-T, I just looked through his mods and profile pics and it seems he has a '98 RS. If thats the case then you'll want to use the upgrade path I linked below. The service manuals I posted originally still need to be downloaded and used as well as checking the timing belt, you'll just want to make sure your in the 2.0 Non Turbo section of the manual.

2g N/T Horsepower Upgrades

Change your CAR type in your profile so we know what you actually own so misinformation isn't given to you.

I definitely agree with gofer and taking care of maintenance first on your car. You sound like you're on a budget but don't get discouraged, you can find cheap, quality parts in the classifieds on this site. Shop around when you buy parts (just like anything else) because prices can vary drastically from one vendor/seller to the next.

A word about cheap power:

Fast, reliable, cheap.

Pick two because you cant have all three.

With $400 a month, I would do all the maintenance first and save whatever I had left until I could do proper power upgrades. That way it wont come to bite you me the butt later.

Let's keep it kinda between the lines here. He is working atleast.

If he knows how to manage money and not beat on his car then im sure he will be fine.

To the op. Save save save. Take care of the car and leave it stock and maybe try for a higher paying job.

sent from my evo.

I didn't say to change it to an Eclipse RS I said to change it to the type of car you own or are at least asking about. You had Eclipse GS-T in your profile but your asking questions on modifying your Eclipse N/T and you don't even own a GS-T.

The reason why the site has the specific turbo models (GS-T or GSX) for the profile car selection and not the different N/T models (RS or GS) is because there is no difference between the two N/T models minus the trim and options from the factory. The GS-T or GSX however have many differences so its important to know which you have or are talking about.
