OK, I have read both magnus and rre's articles on doing swap. I have also used search button. My head hurts and I am lost. I have 6 bolt block and everything else from my 2g. If I use the 6 bolt block I have and 2g top end(head, TB, manifolds, etc.), will everything work back fine(other than shaving 2g motor mount)? Will I need to alter any sensors?

you still need all the 2g sensors...knock, water temp, 1g CAS, TPS, oil, etc.

So if you still have everything off of your 2g motor, take off all the sensors and put them on your 1g components. You still have to use a 1g CAS and wire that up though. Using your 2g head doesn't really save you much work other than you already have it.

Feel free to post up any other questions.

OK will I need to change to my 2g oil pump or will the 1 g cas take care of that for me.

There should be an oil pump in the front case of your 6-bolt block. Do you mean the crank angle sensor that is on your crank down there? That won't bolt up to the 1g front case, so the 1g CAS will provide both crank and cam signals to the ECU.

I also am doing a 6 bolt swap. basically I have a 1g motor and I rewired the CAS like on method one at http://www.roadraceengineering.com/1gcasin2g.htmchoose.. I Have a 1995 GST besides for doing the things I have to do to make it fit what els will I have to do

Nothing else besides using 2g sensors, 1g water pipe, and 1g lower radiator hose...basically everything that it lists on the Magnus Motorsports swap list. As for dropping it in, it drops in just like your 7-bolt did.

Thanks for all your help. I will probably have more questions as I go, but thanks again.

For the oil filter housing, you can either get one from an early 1g that has an external oil cooler or you can get one from a later one that has a liquid cooled oil cooler. Then take off the 2g sensors for the oil pressure gauge, and the low oil/oil pressure and put them on the same place on the 1g one.

WHat do you mean when you say 2g sensors...which ones???

2g sensors needed:

-oil pressure sender
-low oil sensor
-water temp sensor
-knock sensor
-TPS
-MAP sensor
-o2 sensor
-grounding point on the intake manifold

Thats all I can think of off-hand, I don't think there are any other ones.

Also keep your 2g cam and crank angle sensors so you can cut off the connector to make your wiring harness plug and play.

I dont have the 2nd gen motor any more...were they connected to the motor or the wiring harness?? or were they connected to the engin bay.. If there were connected to the motor what do I do now and can someone tell me where these sensors are exactly..I sold the motor because I didnt think I needed it and I needed money to buy the 1st gen motor

The knock sensor I believe was on the block. As for the cam and crank sensors they were on the head. Do you still have the head?

Also, does anyone know where I can get a plug for the 1g CAS? Other than the junk yard, does anyone sell them?

Is there a reason why the sensors that are already in the 90 oil cooler wont work?

The sensors already in the '90 oil cooler are for that ECU...the 2g computer needs the 2g sensors to properly display their signals. You don't need them necessarily, but its good to know your oil pressure.

RRE sells a plug-n-play harness for the 1g CAS to the 2g cam and crank sensors. Its like $75...I'd grab one from the junkyard and make your own. If I can do it, you can do it.

You only need a 2g thermostat housing if you are using your 2g head. As for the 1g water pipe, check local junkyards/classifieds, or on this site here.

You can actually use the 2g water pipe & thermostat housing if you retain the 2g head during the swap. This will also let you retain the 2g radiator hoses. Only thing that may need to be done is block off un-used nipples from the water pipe (you DID switch to an air cooled oil cooler right??) and re-route some of the cooling lines to your turbo (if you're not runing a dry setup). I'm almost done with my swap and if some pictures of how I routed everthing is needed, I'll post em on request.

i just did the 6 bolt swap in my 95 and what i did was pull the ecu and the wire harness from the 1g (about 2hrs). and everything else was pretty smooth cept for the lost bolt stuff like that. changing the ecu will save alot of headach

You're joking right? I honestly dont see how swaping over to a 1g ECU & harness is going to 'save alot of headach' . . . all that is needed is to build/buy one wiring harness to hook up a Cam Angle Sensor in place of the stock Crank Position Sensor and that's about it.
