need help with 6 bolt swap

hi, i have a 2g GSX manual and my 7 bolt motor one day heated up while i was on the road and a lot of smoke came out the exhaust, it wouldnt start after that so it had to be towed home, any idea what could be wrong? waterpump? a sensor? i was running 15 psi on a stock turbo, and a stock motor, i just have little basic bolt ons. would i be better of doing a 6 bolt swap or is there anything i should look for to get my 7 bolt engine to start, thanks.
