Have a 1gb and the engine is giving me crap, just rebuilt the head. Does anyone have any one know or have done a 6-bolt swap? Also would I be able to use a 6-bolt block and keep my 7-bolt head? or would I have to get the complete 6-bolt engine? and what kind of modifications be looking at to get it running?

Thanks in advance fan any input

What kind of problems are you having? Doing the 6 bolt swap is stupidly simple, even in a 2G. I'd imagine as long as you had all the right parts it would fall right into your car. You can keep your head but will just have to machine the headbolt holes 1mm larger so the 6 bolt studs/bolts don't get caught up as they are 12 mm vs 11 on a 7 bolt. You will need a 6 bolt shortblock including oilpan and flywheel as well as a new front case and oil filter housing. :thumb:

The six bolt swap in theory is easy to do but there are a lot of things you have options of doing. I.E. if you're doing the six bolt swap are you using the water cooled vs. air cooled oil cooler, leaving the balance shafts in or getting the BSE kit, random misfire codes if you're not using a DSMLINK setup (2g), etc. Just make sure you get all the info. you can and what your expectations are for the car as well as a budget. In the end of my swap I ended up spending a lot more than I initially intended.
