I just changed out my fuel pump with a Walbro 255HP. Put in my Fuel Lab AFPR. Have a NEW OEM gasket for the pump to tank. Everything's good there....BUT when I was tightening down the nuts on top of the send unit, one of them snapped the stud. Is this going to cause a major issue??? There is no gas leaking out (tank is nearly empty though). I am hoping that it will be tight enough from the torque on the nuts to each side of the snapped one but I don't know!? What should I do???

If that happened to me I would put a bead of formagasket around it . Not the right thing to do but the cheapest.

Major PITA, but as long as it holds, I'd leave it. I had two break on me while taking them off, I got lucky it did it before I got it all back together. If you find it leaks there is a couple different ways to fix the prob, based on skill levels you'll be able to fix it with some minor drilling and a new bolt/nut.

If it leaks and you want I can tell you what I did and it's a very safe and easy fix OR do a search and see how others did it.:thumb:

Didnt leak when I drove it, but again it doesnt have a full tank. We will see what happens when I fill up and drive.

Also, I know Walbros are louder, but are they supposed to make different sounds when driving, opposed to idling?

Mine does.. Changes pitch based on load demand and I don't notice it while getting on it, but as soon as I let off and the pump stops pushing harder I hear the pitch note change. Wouldn't worry about it.

Two things first to answer your question I broke one of mine about a month or two ago and I just replaced the gasket and tightend the other bolts down and I dirve it all the time with no leaks and it holds pressure.(I can hear it when I take the gas cap off), so you should be good as long as you snug the rest down. Two that noise you hear is probably due to the fact that you have not rewired it. Turn you blinker on and if you hear the pump making noises then you need to do the rewire for sure. I say you should do it any ways cause it helps the flow. Its real simple look it up on VFAQ and that should cure the pump from changing pitches. Hope this helps

Ummm...I have the rewire done. I put it in my profile I believe? But I am going to fill up on gas and see if it leaks. If not, cool
