So my waterpump decided to die on me a couple days ago, and I finally got around to pulling the head. safe to say I'm not too happy about the way my valves look. when the cams are perfectly aligned, cyl 2 exhaust valves are open quite a bit, also cyl 3 exhaust valves are open. I don't know too much about how they work, so do you guys think it's normal? Another concern I have is that there was splotches of coolant on the piston heads, I do'nt know if that was from pulling the head, or from coolant getting swathed around while the head was taken off? pictures were taken immediately after we pulled it. Do you guys think the HG was blown, or on its way out? off topic, but I also noticed that the timing belt doesn't necessarily have to pulled in order to take off the waterpump, am I nuts or what?
p.s., taken with my parent's canon 7.2 MP camera.. sure beats my camera phone
lastly,
When I checked all of my timing marks before I pulled the head, my oil pump sprocket was out of phase. The actual mark on the sprocket was facing about 4 o'clock versus the notch on the front cover at 10 o'clock. would that make a power difference? or any difference at all?
