Need help. Don't know what else to check.

I drive a 1992 eagle talon n/t fwd. I've done quite a bit of work on it myself, and the other day it started grinding on start. I kept driving it and then it quit starting all together, but I could hear the fuel pump pushing fuel through the lines. I could get the car to start if I put the car in neutral and played the clutch a little. I've already taken the starter out, and had it tested and it passed so I don't know what else to do. What could cause this?? this is my daily driver so I need some quick help.

Grinding as in the starter makes an aweful grinding sound when you try to start, and the engine doesn't turn over? Probably some teeth worn off the flywheel.
