My 90 galant GSX just stalled when i was driving in a really busy street. The car started making a clicking sound under the glove box and within seconds the car just died. I tried starting it, it does start but dies within 5 seconds(+clicking sound) and check engine light turns on. After reading about +50 posts with the word "stalling" and "clicking" , I ve concluded that the ECU is dead. am I correct?

I don't know what caused this problem the only thing i did with the car was change the airfilter and oil change last saturday. I droved the car everyday until today.

I want to ask you guys if my conclusion is right. I pulled out the ECU and took pics. I saw some burn marks on the pcb circuit (near R47) and the big blue capacitor.

My next Question is what other ECU's I can use for my car? I believe I can use eclipse, talon ECU? My 1990 galant has also a 4g63 dohc , 5 speed , AWD.

I would really apreciate any comments and opinion! thanks!!

It's hard to tell from the pictures but it doesn't look too bad.
From what you describe it does sound like a capacitor problem that can be fixed.
The GVR4 has some differences in things like the MAF that make using stock DSM ECU's a less than optimal choice but they will get you car going. I know a lot of GVR4 guys using DSM EPROM ECUs once they change the EPROM to match the tuning for the GVR4.
