ok my 91 gsx is having some problems, but the most serious one right now is that it wont start.

i was making a right turn and as i accelerate (going about 35mph) the car just dies completely but it still kept rolling. i pull it to the side and it wont start. its like the engine wants to turn over but it doesnt.

its sitting at a pick n save parking lot right now, i have to get it outta there before it gets towed!!!!

my friend told me the fuel pump went out, what do you guys think?

need help asap, thanx

I would first pull the upper timing belt cover and make sure the belt is still there and properly timed, then pull the ECU and check for capacitor leaks.

i didnt pull the timing belt cover but i did look at the pulleys and stuff, and the timing belt is still there.

what does a "capacitor leak" look like?

also try checkin for fuel pressure by tryin to start it then goin up to the fuel rail and pokin the valve on it and see if fuel comes out

i figured it out, well kinda. i looked at the battery and all the fuses that are attatched to it.

i notice that the MPI fuse(20A) is blown so i go buy a couple more, put them on there and both are blown, as soon as i try to start the engine.

what is going on??!!

that happend to me in my car. it turned out to be my battery terminals. they were loose and would lose connection and my car would die. you might want to check those out.

that happened to me also, makes ya sick doesnt it :barf:

i was gonna say a ground comming of the batter to the chassis.

remember this always cause this is usually the soution to 1g electrical no starts. (not that you will be forgetting im sure)

A good portion of the engine bay is powered off the MPI fuse.
The ECU, MAF, Injectors, and all the solenoids.

As you've discovered the car won't start if the MPI fuse is blown.

I have the same exact problem exact problem except my car is a 98 gsx with a 6bolt swap. I was going up my driveway at about 5 mph when all of a sudden it died and wouldnt start up.

the previous owner installed the radio and used speaker wire to power it. that burned up and took an ecu wire with it. its now fixed.

I would check for an exposed wire somewhere, it might be a small one and hard to find.

i have a feeling thats probably what it was, i had a loose ac pipe vibrating and i figured it knocked something loose, and now the cars not getting any fuel to the plugs.
