I think I am about to buy my first dsm. The owner has rebuilt the
engine. The rebuild has only 78 miles on it. My ? is can I drive the car
for about 5 hours back to my house or should I trailor it? My reason for asking is
I would be picking up a parts car also (which I have to trailor) and I want to
get both cars at once. The second ? is if I need to trailor the car or not what is
the best way to brake in the engine? How many miles should I wait
until I get on the gas hard? :)

Thank you for all replies
Eric

don't see a point in rebuilding an engine if you cant drive it.. yes you can drive it. There are many different engine break in methods discussed on these forums try a search here and in the engine forum.

As long as oil is getting everywhere, and you wait until its warmed up, you should be able to get on it right away. The only problem i can see is, you dont know who, why, or how they rebuilt it. some ppl call putting rings in a motor a rebuild.. cuz it sorta is. I would see how its running before you decide to drive it back. Trailoring it might not be such a bad idea if its 5 hours away, thats a lot of gas / risk.
