I am typing from my phone, sorry if grammar is off.
My balance shaft pulley snapped and I had it towed to a local performance shop. The pulley snapped in half. I am aware I need a total rebuild or a new motor. The shop said they could import a motor from japan that would garauntee to have less than 55k miles on original motor with a 90 day warranty. He said that would be around 1500.00. He said pulling and installing, fluids, and everything would be about 1000.00 labor.
The situation is, i will be getting an army loan, and they require a quote. I had the shop quote me at 3000.00 so I can do other modifications while the motor is out.
Does 2500 for everything sound ok.

Just the fact he told you the rods were bent, and whatever else without tearing it down tells me he is only in it for the money.... He wants to buy a whole new engine because thats easy as hell to just swap engines with a new running one... Wouldn't be worth more then 500$ labor imo to swap just the engine with a new one...
