name that sensor?

hum, nothing online about this period, not vfaq, not even in the haynes book.....

on a 420a block on the intake side there are 2 sensors one to the left with one wire attached and one to the right with 2 wires attached, what are they for....I know the one to the left has something to do with oil...????

(Edit, the sensors are on the side of the block, one in between cylinders 3 and 4 and the other between 1 and 2)

yeah, thank you...it seems it could be a knock sensor, the haynes book said thats where it is located, but that also brings up the question, whats behind it? oil or water, I need to pull it and dont want any surprizes...

Nothing. It just screws into the block.

hum, then its not a knoock sensor....i dont know why they would teflon a sensor that is just screwed into the block, any other ideas would be greatly appretiated, other than that my only other option is to unplug it and see what doesnt work

altho my digital camera should be back in a few days, so then i can get a photo

Ok I have pics, they were taken from under the car. The first one is of the sensor in question and the second is its placement relative to the oil pressure sender.....hopefully this helps name it..!!

Because they're pinheads. Teflon tape is for water and sewage in the house plumbing.

Anyways, yes. It's the knock sensor. You should grab the real manuals off eBay.

Yes, go to ebay, type in DSM and click on, cars and parts, then manuals and literature and there will be 6 results for the best one you can get. Well 4, theres an owners manuel and warranty info for a '90 talon mixed in there. Best $4-$10 + shipping you will ever spend.

For manuals, do an eBay for "talon manual -(CD)" and you'll still have to sift through a few ripoffs of the DSM Backup CDs. Do the same with "eclipse", although for reasons unclear to me, the Mitsubishi manuals pull in $125 while the Talon manuals go for $30. There's three for the whole set- Engine and Chassis, Electrical, and Body. There's also manuals for the transmission, and fuel injection, and if you're lucky, you might find various dealer and mechanic training books, like these:
