I am losing mass amounts of coolant . It's running out as fast as I can put it in . I traced it back to a small hose leading into the oil cooler but cannot find what this is called so I can go get a new one . If anyone has an idea what its called I would appreciate it . ( see pic )

Because it is missing entirely the pic is from an engine I found online I don't know if the previous owner had it just slipped on or what but it seems to have blown off and I cant find it . Happened in my yard so chance are its mulched up in the grass

turbo coolant line

possibly its the oil cooler (water cooled oil cooler)

either way, you got to pull it off, the parts house is more than likely not gonna have it in stock.

just take the torn hose with you and ask the parts counter guy to match it up with something the best ya can.

Learn from my mistakes when dealing with this coolant line.

Mine too had a leak so I pulled it and bought a coolant hose from Auto Zone that was the same I.D. and installed it. The OE hose has a slight bend in it as it turns to the OFH and the universal hose I bought at Auto Zone didn't, it was straight. I installed it and drove with it for months no problem, no leaks and it looked like it was doing fine. I scheduled a dyno day and on my way to L.A. (from San Diego RRE was 2 hours) I smelled coolant and noticed that in my rear view mirror I was throwing up a smoke screen so I immediately pulled off the interstate and into a gas station. Once I got the hood up and started looking I found that same hose I just replaced a few months back was leaking again, this time really bad. Well, you know that bend it takes? The straight hose I replaced it with months back, where it bend to the OFH it was touching my downpipe and eventually it melted through the hose.

Long story short, I recommend replacing this hose with an OE one from Mitsu as well as the hose on the underside of the OFH while you're in there. To change that OFH coolant inlet hose you'll have to remove the oil filter...

Thanks for that input Gofer that was exactly what I planned to do since none of the auto stores around here seem to have it or even the cooler itself for that matter . Guess I'll have to go to a mits dealer unless I can find it online . straight hose will work for me for now though since I am just working on it in my driveway only short trips around the neighborhood for test drives . Will be a few months yet till it becomes a daily driver again .

Dude, theres other hoses at the parts house that will work, TRUST ME. Ive done this EXACT operation befor. It dont have to be the Mitsu oil cooler/coolant hose. It can be a, oh, say, throttle body coolant hose from a honda civic or a ford tuarus.

Instead of being a 8'' long hose with a 20* bend it might be a 14" long hose with a 30* bend, SO WHAT. You cut out the best portion and match up the "bend" as best as possible, and for what its worth, never let your coolant lines drape accross the exhaust parts or moving parts. (kinda common sense)
