So im in the process of doing a BLT and I found a leak at the throttle body right above the TPS. Its a plastic screw with a phillips head about and inch long with a lot of fine threads and at the end of it, it looks like a bullet. Is this some knid of idle adjustment or something? It has carbon caked on the end of it so it obviously must go into the airflow path inside the throttle body. Anyone know what this is?

I was thunkin right! Umm you get the prize of bein the dude who helped me figure out what it was and helped me go fast.

Yea I went to Autozone and got a new one. Not leakin from there anymore and the car runs much better BUT.. I still have one more leak, I can hear it but I cant find it even with soapy water and a spray bottle. Its coming from somewhere underneath the intake manifold. Now I can even hear it when the car is running. Anyone know of any common things that I might check?

It idles dead on. But I can hear it hissing. Iv'e checked every vaccum line I can find and its coming from somewhere you can't see or get to.

^^Sweet. Now we're gettin somewhere.. thanks, i'll keep yall posted.

I almost found it... I used the old hold one end of a vacuum line to your ear, then feel around with the other end trick. Its loudest back behind the coil pack right in the middle. I cant see anything back there except the intake. Could this be my manifold gasket? I was watching my tach closely and it does fluctuate 100-200rpms every 5 to 10 seconds..

^^I know its coming from back there but you cant spray anything because the coil pack is in the way. I might just go ahead and replace it anyway. I've heard a few stories about paper gaskets blowing out. Id rather save my money and get a felpro paper gasket instead of going to mitsubishi and getting a metal one. Anyone used paper before?

Have you heard of the paper ones blowing out though? I read somewhere on here awhile back and someone used paper ones and they kept blowin out.

Theres four lines that vaccum lines run too under the intake manifold. They're attached to the intake manifold brace. But, this was on my 6 bolt. Not sure if its the same for your car.
