Hi guys, finally able to work on the trainwreck of a talon I have. Noticed water leaking in one corner of the hatch. Tube is fine (took it inside and put it in a sink looking for leaks), and it is clean and has a clear exit far outside the car.

I found a rubber piece that I can't describe any better than a rubber stopper, which was sitting at the inlet hole for the hose. I don't have the same "stopper" on the passenger side. This wasn't stuck in or anything, i pulled it out easily, so I think it was maybe just an accident that it found its way into the hole and is causing my leak.

I tried to take a picture, but it's not very good, so sorry about that. It appears to have been red at some point, but most of the coloring is off and it's black now (car was the dark cherry color, and this red is a normal red).

I don't have any books to reference at the moment, cause I was smart and left them at at home which is 3 hours away last time I was there, smooth move I know.

Can't explain how it managed to get into your hatch drain, but from the pic's it looks very much like the rubber cover that goes over your brake bleed nipple. It's used to keep dirt off the nipple for when you bleed your brakes. Check your rear brake calipers and see if one is missing, if not, than like I said who the H*ll knows how it got where it was.

thats just a rubber nipple to eliminate a vaccum line or something else

Looks like the cover to the nipple for bleeding your clutch, located on the slave cylinder.

Could some one have put it there because the hose to the drain was bad and was leaking in the car?

Acually looks like that little rubber cover that on the back of the timing belt cover.

check all of the bleeder valves on the car and make sure they have one, if one doesnt then you know where it goes.

Thanks everyone, I looked everywhere that you all suggested and everything is there. I'm guessing this was just an extra that the previous owner bought. Looks like maybe he just misplaced it and it eventually just rolled until it found a hole to sit in.
