Hey ppls. I need your help if you can. I have a 91 talon awd that is being put back together and i have a little issue with figuring out what tb to use. I'm using a bulldog im and it is going on a stage 4 head. I heard that the 1g n/t tb is better and also heard that the the turbo tb would be ok too. just recently heard about them but i just dont know. i figure you guys can help me out better.

my question is what motor is the n/t tb comming out of ? either 1.8 or 2.0, im not to sure what.

how good is these 1g n/t tb compare to the turbo tb?

if i get the n/t tb are there any special thing that i have to do to them to fit or does it just bolt right up?

anything helps. thanks, joe

The main difference in the two is the n/t has a lip on it so you will need a coupler to attach it to the IC piping. It eliminates the gasket in between the elbow and TB which helps with eliminating boost leaks.

^^ What he said. The only real benefit to using the N/T TB is that it's one less gasket to leak (since there's no removable elbow it eliminates the gasket between the TB and the elbow). You will need the 2.0 TB. The one thing like stated is you'll need a coupler and hard pipe to connect the N/T TB.

As the others have said, you eliminate one gasket and replace it with a coupling and 2 clamps. I see no benefit personally, even though I have a spare N/T TB in my garage.

In order to swap to a N/T TB you will need shorter studs and bolts since they don't have to go through the flange for the throttle body elbow like on the turbo setup.

You might have read some things about the N/T TB being larger but the fact is that the throttle plate is the same size on both so there is really no gain. Check out this thread, http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/bolt-tech/227241-1g-nt-throttle-body-1g-turbo.html, and pay attention to the last post with the measurements.

Hope this helps!

Oh ok thanks for the help. save me some money there, cool. Since theres really no big diffrence in the n/t one and turbo one like in gain or better flow then I think i'm just going to keep the turbo one on there. and agian thanks.

The throttle plate/inner diameter is the same between the turbo and N/T TB's but the N/T is bigger at the inlet. The tapered size of the N/T TB inlet will create somewhat of a Bernoulli effect increasing air velocity going into the IM.

'90 Turbo- Inner Diameter 60.3mm
Throttle plate 60mm
Thickness flange to flange 55mm

'91-'94 Turbo- Inner Diamter 60.3mm
Throttle Plate 60mm
Thickness flange to flange 47.5mm

'91-'94 N/T- Inner Diameter 63.5mm tapers to 60.3mm
Outer Diameter 70.7mm
Throttle plate 60mm
Thinckness flange to flange 39mm
Thickness Inlet to flange 82.70mm
