Well I am half way finished with project 1g and wanted to show you guys some of the pics. I know lots of people have done the flat black look but I wanted to be somewhat different and decided to do a flat blue look. Car still needs another coat to be finished but you can get a good idea on what it should look like. Also if anyone knows where I can get a cheap front windshield I would apprieate it.

for a cheep front windshield, take a look at the junk yards, pull it, and have a glass shop install it for you...

And what kind of paint did you use? Rattlecan or stuff through a gun? What kind of prep work did you do on it?

This is all Rattlecan type spray paint. I sanded the car down, layed down some primer, then wet sanded it, primer again, wet sand, then my first coat of blue. Gonna wet sand it again and apply another coat of paint. Car doesn't look half bad for the paint job. :D

How many cans of primer did you go through? What grit sandpaper?

sorry if I'm just like, blastin with questions- but I'm getting ready to go flat black on my 1g and am wondering how "prepaired" i should be.

I used about 6-7 cans of primer. with the sand paper i used a 200grit and then a 400grit to sand it down. layed down the primer, sanded some more, then another coat of primer. After I got finished with the primer I wet sanded it with 1000grit sand paper, washed it down and then painted it with the Midnight blue. I'm going to be sanding it next with 2000grit and then painting again. After I lay down the final coat i'm going to find the finest sandpaper i can and sand it down so everything can be nice and smooth.

its looking good, but what if it starts raining, or something stupid, you should keep it under a roof.

I hope you bought some special spray paint that has UV protection...Unlike real car paints, rattle can paints do not have a UV protectant in it so it may start to became faded after while. But as of now, it looks good. :thumb:

Here is the car just about finished with a new windshield installed.

I dislike that I'm sorry but the flat color makes the car look like a blow up of a matchbox car

Some people like it, some don't. I'm happy with the outcome so far and you really can't beat it for a $300 beater car that has a turbo and AWD.

is it me or did you paint the roof blue also ? ifso then ya should have painted the window frame and the 'b' pillar
