Actually i got a whole new Axel-Back made. Of course, it is 3" Mandrel Bent piping for $75 (steel painted flat back). I did this because I want the option to put back on the Thermal if I ever feel like making my car louder again. :D

I don't know how much it would cost to swap, mufflers. Honestly, i dont think it is possible the Thermal muffler is angled differently from the Vibrant.

Thanks anyway. I want to get the 3" turboback on ebay thats $300 shipped, buy a dual tip more stealthy looking muffler and just cut swap and weld. Hopefully it wont be too much.

i might of missed it but....are you selling your thermal exhaust now? because i could possibly be interested.

Just ordered one w/$5 rush hour discount hehe. $102 isn't so bad for this. I purchased the N1 exhaust off ebay and it sounds like a banshee, i can't handle it.

The car with the exhaust out the driver side fender does any body know wether it has a muffler or is it just straight piped off the header and if so does it affect power

First off, DSM's don't have headers.

Secondly, it more than likely has no muffler, and is just mandrel bent pipe straight from the turbo, and the smaller pipe is most likely the external wastegate dump tube.

Am I right?

Ofcourse. The exhaust becomes less restricitve. Thats exactly what people hope to achieve when suppose they go catless or in this guys case no muffler, just a pipe of the turbo.

P.S N/A's like you car, have headers but turbo cars don't. Exhuast manifold, to turbo and then to exhaust. No headers in between.

I just got done doing that.

Sorry for being so...non-modest, but it turned out so perfect that I'm extremely proud of myself :p

I think he is referring to the fact we only have one cylinder bank, not two, so it would be header, not headers.

Its usually usually called a tubular exhaust manifold instead of a header on a turbo if you want to get technical, but most of us know whats being referred to.

Anyway, I had a Thermal muffler on my 1g and took a cut-off wheel to the inside of it to reveal a 3" tip. Much more stealthy than the previous 4.5" or whatever it was (huge).

If you cut the tip in half length-wise it would look like this:

I cut it to look like this:

I gots two!

That's also a '91 AWD, and thats after the engine bay fire at the tow place. You don't want to see the other angle.

:tease:

It has to be a an old picture because look at the gas pirces on the left :tease:

LOL...very observant. I can't believe a tank-full cost over $40 now. Glad my new exhaust bumped my fuel economy up a couple mpg (although it's even more fun now to tromp it which doesn't help at the pump).

Not bad. Looks similar, maybe even better, than mine.

eBay Motors: Stainless Steel Exhaust Header Eclipse 95-97 98 99 na (item 230238479975 end time Apr-09-08 09:07:40 PDT) so this isn't a header try typing it in all cars have exhaust headers of some sort but your right about the dump tube one out of two isn't bad but my question still remains does it affect power

We have turbo manifolds, some people call them "turbo headers" but they are manifolds. Even headers are really manifolds- they just come off the head :)

Still wondering if I did this to my N/A motor would it help or hurt power sorry for:beatentodeath: I just still havn't got a answer

Stop thread jacking and make a new one. This is a "Stock/Stealth" thread. Not a "Lets see how loud I can make my car" thread.

OP: Come on Dan, post up the video. I am KINDA thinking about doing this but with the dual tip.

Unlike op I will actually take a vid of the n1 and the new "stealth" muffler and post here ;)

just messin w/op.

The last two dual tip mufflers look great also, could you please post a link/part#? Magnaflow has a dual tip muffler I was looking at going with later, but I can't find the part# right now. All these different mufflers are look'n great, good thread:thumb:.
