Hey guys, I picked up a 1990 Talon TSi AWD rolling chassis way back March. Here's what the little bugger looked like when I picked it up:

A bit of a POS eh? Well one man's project has now become another man's project :D

This is what it looks like now:

I can throw in some of the progess pictures but I figured some pictures showing the drastic turn-around would be more fitting in the first post. :talon:

Well how much and any more of the before and now pics?

I bought the shell, all exterior body parts, entire electrical system (wiring harnesses), windows, for $500, there is only one small ding on the entire body and it has 72K original miles. Basically the only money I have spent on the car is for rattle-can (decent paint job coming after I get it running, so maybe next summer)

good luck, be careful with all the trim pieces they aren't availible anymore (i just bought the last ones) and good luck with it!

wow, sucks for me, I need the last trim piece that along the bottom of the driver's side, that and the snaps for it. All of the other trim pieces are intact, the most "recent" photos are about a month old, I'll take some new ones tomorrow. :talon:

500 is a bit much, did you get any of the drive train and interior?

But if it is a southern car and has NO rust, almost all the parts its worth it.

Southern car, never been taken out of Texas, I have everything to the car except the fuel pump assembly, transmission, engine, and transfer case. I already bought a transmission and t-case.....now for that 6-bolt engine. Oh and I can pick up a fuel pump assembly from a local salvage yard.

That first pi reminds me of my 90 that i bought now for 350, 10 months ago. Sat under a tree for 7?+ years.

haha, mine sat in a junkyard under a carport for 3 years. Now it sit under a carport behind my barn. I plan on having it running by August, I hope to hit a 12.9 1/4 on 20 psi off the 14b because of the car's power/weight ratio (weight reductions like crazy). The car will be tuned for 20 psi at FIST, which make for a fun 2hr drive back home :D

My 90 looks/is almost identical to that and has been sitting behind a motel for a year and a half.
And it will probably be there for at least another year.

*** This should had been posted In the Hang out...

BTW, Nicely done, you have set an example of those saying things like
I'm retiring out of the DSM or I'm out out of the DSM game.

Sorry about the post in the wrong section, still learning my way around this particular site. Thanks, I'm glad you like my little "resurrection" as it were....since this car was pretty much toast when I bought it.

Looks like a fun project! What do you plan with the engine? (Pistons, Rings, Arms, complete build)? Or is this going to have upgrades to the rest of the engine system.

I was planning on starting out with a rebuilt stock 6-bolt 4g63 and working my way through parts as I did my research, as I am still relatively new to DSMs.

the pictures I promised:

Hood is in the process of being painted. Due to lack of hinges it will have to be hood pinned

I finally got my motor (78K, rebuilt block) and trans (in the middle of a rebuild) along with another 1990 (belongs to a friend's little bro) with a 1Gb eclipse front end and more problems than you can shake a stick at.

A little update, I found the problem with my transmission, it had a broken 1-2 shift rail, I am in contact with Jack's to get this fixed. This summer or spring break I should be able to order pistons and rod bearins and get my bottom end back together.

I scrapped that car in March 2009. Picked up a '92 AWD in summer 2010, which got t-boned by a cop in June 2011. Ended up with a '96 AWD later that year, ex girlfriend screwed up the transfer case and driveshaft. Wrecked that in May 2012 when everything locked up and I slid. Picking up a '93 AWD next month hopefully. This concludes my update.

- Oh, before I forget. Can a mod go ahead and move this to the hangout section? That's where I should have posted this thread to begin with.
