So over some time my my heat just decided it wanted to stop working. It wasn't just one day but gradual. I know i need to fix something, but im not sure what to fix. It does not turn on at all when you turn the knob on any of the settings, whether defrost or interior heat, nothing. the heat from the engine bay blows through but unfortunitly its just not enough heat for the subzero weather were are having right now. Any takers?

So its blowing air through the vents, but its cold air? Have you checked the antifreeze? Try changing the thermostat. Are you leaking and fluid?

it also could be a clog in your heater core. flush your system. also the pores in the heater core that allow the heat to go inside your car might be clogged which means replacement.

I don't know how well a DSM will handle this but I trick I have used in the past with this old Chevy truck I had was to unhook both lines from the motor to the heater core and run a car wash pressure washer into the intake hose and run it full blast into the core and even try a reverse flush if it is not flowing like I think it needs to. Now be warned this can blow up the core if it is plugged real bad and make a big mess.

Now if it is that your blower is not moving air then you have a few different things to check, First make sure the fuse for your blower motor is good and just for good luck replace it with a new one. If it is still giving you problems find your blower motor and check it and the wires to it with a test light (if you don't have one get one, trust me they are worth having around)this will tell you if you are getting power to the blower motor or if you might need a replacement. Now I don't know a bunch about DSM's yet so there might be some stuff I am missing but that is the basics of how I have delt with heater issues on other cars in the past and hope this helps you out.

Also check your controls behind the dash to make sure nothing came unhooked like slider linkage from your hot cold switch to duct linkage or something like that, I had a RX7 do that once and had to reach back and under the dash to switch it from hot to cold till I could get the parts to fix it.

i will have to go with the heather blower motor i have that prob right now with my 92 camaro

So your saying, no air is coming out of any vents, no matter where you set your dial too. If this is the case, its nothing to do with the heater, but the fan blower motor itself.

Check your fuses. Could be a bad switch, or a fuse, or the motor is bad...

But if your saying the air is blowing, but its cold air, ( which one I'm not sure, because your post is kinda confusing), then check your coolant level first.

80% of peoples heater problem is the obvious that they over look. Coolant.

If it's full then change your thermostat, which probaly needs to be done anyways, so if that don't fix it, don't be sad, probably needed one.

Next step if still broke, is the heater core.

I had this same problem. I took it to my local shop and they told me they couldn't find anything. Right before I left i saw some coolant leaking from where the kick panels, by the radio, are and told them to try again and look at it. Two minutes later they were like, "Yep its your heater core." So I took it to another shop that said they could do it for about $720. Long story short and $934 later, I had my heat again. Of course I'm not saying that it is your heater core but it sounds pretty similar to what happened to me. No defrost sucks!!! I would def. do what the other guys are saying first and try those. You take a big hit in the wallet department if it is your heater core. Good luck.

BTW this was on my 97 Eclipse GS. So I'm not sure if it's more expensive being a turbo or not. Again good luck and i hope its not your heater core.

No air period:

Blower motor....blower motor switch....blower motor resistor....Blower fuse or even the blower motor relay. Also check for good connections as with old cars sometimes things come lose.

Cold air:

Thermostat....coolant....busted hose....or you might need a flush. Be sure to check for fluid on the passanger side floor.

I say that the poster didn't give enough information but I'll bet they meant that it's gradually gotten colder instead of not working. I say it's lack of coolant and the slow leak that he has in his coolant system has finally gotten to the point where he just can't get hot air anymore. Fix the leak and add more coolant.
