My First Tuner Car Please Help

I just got a 1995 Eclipse Rs 1.8 L auto with a thrown rod. Im pulling the motor not sure if I should fix the motor and build it or buy a different block. and start all over. I need to have a car that runs in the low 11s I dont care about street manners Im looking for fast drag car. I have never owned an import before let alone done any thing to one to make if fast. It would be nice if you would be spicific on what parts and sizes. Im not scared to use nitrous and lots of it. Help Please.

Yeah Im sure its a 1.8......Right now. Im not some stupid street racing kid. I have heard how fast these cars can be. Im just not sure where to start so some help would be great. If not my first strictly race car I have built but it is my first dsm.

Well if your going for a decent setup with the 420a, you mind as well go with the EDZ 2.4 swap. Should get ahold of Glowryder on here, he lives in the dsm area and could help you with everything you need! Here's his profile, pm him if your serious about doing the 2.4 swap! Also the only 1.8L they had were 1st gen eclipses. If your profile is correct you have a 2G

Rsawd95dsm I see your from the Great Lakes area and from your post you must know everything about these cars so yours must be super way fast we should meet up at a track maybe put on a little show? Thank you I just got the car given to me tonight the guy told me it was a 95 with a 1.8 L sorry. I know it dont run with a bad rod. I have heard from a lot of people these can be fast. I want to run in the low 11s. I also know its a 2g. Thanks

Pop the hood, right on the valve cover it should tell you the displacement if it is a 2G.

Unless you're holding up traffic while your DSM is on a trailer, I doubt you'll be watching anyone on this site from your mirror.

If your car is a 2G meaning curvy body styles its a 2G. They only came with 2.0s depending if it is naturally aspirated or turbo'd (from factory it is). You can turbo a 420a but it takes big bucks for a little more power. Most people will say sell it and look for a DSM with a 4G63t and go from there. If your set on turbo'ing a 420 check the tech article upgraded path and find some peoples build threads on here to see how they have gone thru the process.

Well good lord, don't want to listen to what people have to say, then why ask at all! I told him bout the 2.4 swap, rsawd95dsm said to get a 4g63, I don't know what else the guy wants other then to run off to candy land beating cars with his 1 ton ford hillbilly, I mean ford truck..
