So I'm driving down the road and i got on the gas a little bit, and the car starts hesitating a bit, but didn't think much of it cause my car use to do that when it boost creeped before I had a EBC. So i step on the gas again to see if it still does it a little farther down the road and BOOM something breaks, I hear metal parts hiting the road and such. Got a mechanic to look at it today, they said a rod went through the crankcase. How ###! How could that happen? I didnt' even break 5500rpms on the way home. :thumbdown :dsm: :thumbdown Only thing I can think of is the timing belt slipped. Car has like 72,000 miles.

I think that if your timing belt slipped your valves would bend/break, and mess up your pistons at worst. I don't think your rod would break.
I blew my timing belt about 5 months ago the belt had 3500km on it (around 2000 miles) and she slipped my valves all bent and put some nice dings in my pistons. I made a nice trophy out of the pistons and valves though.:thumb:

Yea i dunno what the deal is....they said i need a new engine tho....I dont see what could have caused it. Thats so retarded

Post some damage pics.

Your still on the stock turbo? Maybe you had a clogged injector or something?

it was prob detonation. buddy of mine did the same thing. same problems. and he kept on it to.

I had the timing belt and water pump kit sitting at my parents house ready to replace, but hadnt yet. So im thinking its either that or crankwalk maybe?

Im still on the stock turbo yea.

Thats what I was thinking. It takes a little over 400WHP on a stock 6bolt to break a rod.. so you must have been detonating something horrible.

That or, was it really wet? if somehow the intake sucked some water up, that will bend/brake rods easy.

i'll rebuild one for ya. pm me with what you want in it, and we can work out a price.

they checked the timing belt..its still on there

at the time i was only like in 3rd gear at maybe 3-4 grand...not pushing it AT ALL.....i was runnin stock boost....i have a boost controller, but its turned off which means it wont boost over stock boost anyway. But i was even on the gas really all that much when it happened.

id be open to a rebuild, i just got done mine so im up for another...pm me maybe we can work somethin out

i ordered a engine from LA...should be here in a couple days...it has an improved crank sensor, so hopefully this wont happen again (if it was crankwalking that caused this). Plus its got a 3 year unlimited mile warranty.
