Hey everyone! Ive been on these forums for a long time but this is my first post.
I'm starting my second big project on my 93 talon tsi (first project was rebuilding the car) I found a great deal on some parts that I couldnt pass up so I picked up an evo 3 16g turbo with a precision fmic and an intake with a 2g maf / k&n filter. Now I know there are a few more things I need to pick up like 550cc (or more) injectors and a 255 walbro fuel pump with a rewire kit but I do have a few questions.
First of all would I be able to use my stock bov for a little while with this turbo running at about 17psi? With ostrich for tuning will I need to get a data logger? would I be better off getting dsmlink if Ive never done any tuning before? If I left getting the tuner last would I be able to set everything up and run it without tuning for a week or 2?
I'm really excited for the project but my budget is keeping me from starting :( Sorry if there is an obvious post that answers all these questions but I really wanted to throw up my first post anyways :D
Any advice on building this kind of setup would be appreciated too.
P.s. this is my daily driver so im just looking for a bit of a performance boost.
Thanks guys.

I would get and install the injectors fuel pump and afc or safc at the same time..That way you can tune accordingly..

The 1g bov will and should hold 17 psi..If not there are a tond of mods you can do to the bov to get it to handle more psi.. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-turbo-system-intercooler/220909-1g-bov-101-mods.html

Bov is fine, i would use a logger never used a ostritch, get a wideband i ran mine with no problems without link for years, but i have link now, and its a good investment for me at least. Still learning but its what ill always use. Its not too expensive when, i see others buy peformance parts but have no way of tuning their cars. Lite is 425 if you have a eprom ecu, or have it converted to eprom, you get a discount when you buy it.

I believe that the stock bov will be fine you might need to crush it so it will hold some better Psi.

Honestly dsmlink or bust what the program can do is pretty amazing and its all practice I never tuned before and I already have my cruise and idle tuned pretty well just follow the how ti's, guides, and videos and it will definetly help you understand it. Plus you have people on the forums who are very helpful. Also I've been driving my car without the WOT tuned for about a month I'm going to swap the Turbo and I need a laptop but just don't push it. And I believe stock at WOT our cars run super rich so no need to worry if you get on it a bit

I'm currently about to do a 16g swap too. I would recommend changing your headgasket and headstuds just for safety my eclipse is my DD so I always keep that in mind. Also get a wideband its a definitely a must with tuning you need to accurately monitor your Africa if you run to rich you can flood the engine. If you run to lean you can say bye bye to your engine.

I would consider getting dsmlink (and wideband) before doing the fuel mods, it will help the car idle better and its a good investment, because you WILL use it as long as you have a dsm.

Thanks guys, Ill look into getting an safc for now due to my limited budget. Ill upgrade to a dsmlink as soon as I can get enough money together for it. Ill also look into buying a wideband and a boost gauge.
