Ok I have a 2g gst 97 to be exact. But the car has a 6bolt 4g63 motor in it. With the stock 14b turbo. If i were to get the evo 3 16g turbo would i need an install kit or not? I know 2gs generally do but i wasnt sure since i have a 1g 6bolt.

So it should just be a direct bolt on then? Or would i need anything else. Im thinking of getting it from forced performance. I just wanna make sure i get everything needed. This is the first time im upgrading my turbo i have all the supporting mods about to replace all the belts and that general maintenance next weekend. So i want to be able to order everything i need to put in the evo 3 16g. Thanks.

If I were you, I would also buy their stainless oil feed line and a return line depending on the shape of yours. If they are leaking or kinda rigged together, now would be the time to replace them with some quality parts. Other then that, just get your usual gaskets and start to liquid wrench the turbo bolts 2 days befor you swap and they should come out fine. If not, a set of turbo bolts might do you some good.

o aight cool. So how hard would it be for me to do it myself. Im still learning cause ive never really messed with the turbo itself. I was just wondering if changing out the turbo would be a possibility for me. To save money and to learn

It's pretty straightforward. The oil feed and drain lines and coolant feed and drain lines are in the same places on the 16G as the 14b. Other than that there's the compressor intake tube, a J-shaped compressor outlet pipe, 4 bolts holding the turbine housing to the manifold and 3-4 holding it to the O2 housing depending on if a stud was replaced with a bolt. Do yourself a favor and get a breaker bar (for the turbo to mani bolts) and a set of ratcheting box wrenches (for the O2 housing bolts).
