My dealings with the mitsu dealership about my tps sensor.

I bought my car last friday and about 12 miles away the Check Engine Light came on, so i went to a friends shop and used his code scanner and it showed tps sensor was the problem. So i figured it just needs to be adjusted. Well i read all the threads on here about the TPS and found from a coupl users it will cost me about 20-30 dollars from Mitsubishi to get it adjusted back into spec.

SO i drive there and tell him i have a check engine light and it was diagnosed as the TPS sensor and i just need you guys to adjust it back into spec please. He says well first i need to get one of my guys to diagnose it, it will cost you 78.50 for us just to look at it. WHAT! 78.50 to tell me the same thing i just told you. Then another 20-30 to fix it. I told him it has been diagnosed and i have no need to pay for it twice. He said we dont do that hear, we dont work on any car until it has been diagnosed. I told him that was ridiculous and said no thank you and left.

Im a pretty smart guy, ive been a honda boy forever and been owrking on hondas for the past few years. I understand how to adjust it but i dont have a manual for my eclipse.
I understand that i loosen the two screws and hook ip up to a multimeter and adjust it accordingly. Well what else do i need to know? What wires am i getting my reading from? ETC ETC
If anyone can help me out please let me know. Thanks

IF not, im thinking of calling the head at this mitsu dealership and moaning and complaining until i get it done without paying the 78.50.

It's on the car part of the door jam, not on the door part, other then that, can't get much more specific, mine says Sept. 98 so I am well with in the time, so yeah, I will let you guys know some time next week, I hope, what happens.

I think my door jambs were painted before i bought the car, cause there are 2 things on the actual door, but nothing but red paint on the door jamb. Hmm oh well.

Okay, yesterday I had my sensor replaced under warrenty, and also for a $14 charge I had them do the TSB PCM update, and guess what? It has been a full day now and no CEL, I am pretty sure the flash is what did it, so yeah, worked for me so far.

realize this is an old post, but i just got this exact same problem. Im just going to take it to the dealer, hate doing so ### they love to rip you off but they do get the job done. In my experience anyway.

This is some old thread, but must be useful as it was to my buddy. He has a 99 gsx and is bringing it in next week for the ecu update.... Called the mitsu dealer and they pulled the TSb up while i was on the phone!
