I must've run over a puppy in my previous life.

This last month has thrown everything at me, and to surmise this post is a bit of a rant, most of which has to deal with my '97 talon. I'm looking for support in whatever fashion, I'm not expecting anyone to have any answers for me.

Talon's on the down, got tires that deflate after 36hrs in 15 degree weather. Just bought a set of Kazera KZ-J 17:7.5's with 235/45/17 dunlop sig sports to replace.

Turbo won't spool. I reach 2500 rpms and I hear a whirring sound like that of a supercharger, but I have no boost. Either I have a gigantic boost leak that I can't see ... or my turbo's in need of some attention. I'm looking into buying an fp big t28 as a replacement to my t25 but I can't seem to find one at a price I really want to get to, I don't have a ton of money. I need new plugs/wires/injectors/fp and fuel management to support the new big fp t28.

My talon's driver side window rail (above the window running from the mirror to the end of the door) wasn't replaced by my local body shop when they repaired my rear view mirror after it was clipped by another driver. The shop claimed they had no source of replacing this part - and I've had difficulty finding one myself even through the forums and classifieds etc.

My sound system has suddenly shorted out. Two 10" rockford subs in my trunk no longer put out any sound. Any fuse I throw in the circuit shorts out within 1min of operation. Worked flawlessly for 4 years. Tried removing the speakers, no go.

Brakes are emitting a slight 'whoooshing' sound. Could be pads, could be calipers?, could be air getting into the brake lines.

My main computer is having major problems. I'm seriously disappointed because I've always prided myself upon managing all of my computer related devices. Symptoms range from not being able to start my computer from a cold boot without power cycling anywhere from 1 to 15 times to randomly shutting off while operating. I've narrowed it down to either a bad power supply ($175) or bad motherboard - the motherboard I want is no longer manufactured and nothing else comes close.

Lastly I have no local place to take my talon to be serviced that I can trust. I live in Iowa City, IA and the closest tuning shop that I can take my awd to is in the quad cities of IL - I dunno if she'll make it, much less likely to find a chump to take me home and back.

This is my month of financial suffering. Words of wisdom, encouragement, expertise or comedy are all welcome. Did I mention I found my first signs of rust on the wheel wells? UGH!

Another DSMer for Iowa? Ridiculous I say!!!

Honestly I wouldn't go to Revhard for maintenance work.
Their tuning is amazing from my understanding but you'll be really eating the labor if you go there.

There are a LOT of us there familiar with DSM's who you could probably get some local help from. I'm sure offering a bit of cash for some help you'd get some good results - although I'm sure some people there would be happy to help for free but I'd always offer something.
Most of the people there are in Cedar Rapids or the surrounding area.

I'd personally drop the idea of a new turbo and all until you got your bugs worked out.
Hey, if your sound system lasted 4 years without any issues I'd say that it held up pretty good.
I'm not a sound system guy at all so I can't really help with that.

My 1.8L laser's brakes did the wooshing sound, did it for a few weeks then I started to lose brake pressure badly. Turned out one of my calipers was seizing up when it got hot - however I still don't understand the wooshing noise I had prior because they still worked fine at the time.

For your turbo, check for shaft play. If it's bad - perhaps just find a used T25 or 14b for cheap and throw it on and worry about the T28 later.

It's been a bad time for a lot of people.

I lost my job on December 31st and my talon broke down week after week - I've put about $300 into fixes and my bank account has been dropping dangerously low and I was missing classes not able to get a ride to school all the time. Then my computer crashed and my xbox redringed in a span of 3 days. Need a new motherboard/processor for my computer and $120 to send in my xbox. The computer stuff will be 200. I just can't afford any of that right now.

Just got a new job two days ago so finally I'm looking up a bit.

But yeah - it could always be worse! Good luck!

Sorry to hear about your problems brother, just remember that when you think you have it bad...there are plenty of others out there that have it worst. So relax, take a deep breath and take it an issue at a time. Good luck and keep us posted.

Bitter? No. But after reading threads like this over & over, it gets old. It's not wrong. Did I say it was? I'm just saying you don't have it bad at all. Fix your shit.

I appreciate you reading this thread. I'm in search of humor, expertise or encouragement. I just hope that others read this and can continue the thread properly. I'm well aware that dsms have their problems; that's part of the reason why I posted. I've been a member and read since 2002. I_WILL_ 'fix my shit'.
