My car is a 1992 Eclipse GS N/T 6-Bolt 4g63. I replaced the head with a 2g turbo head off of a 1995 GST.

My Setup:
1g lower 6-bolt block
2g turbo head w/ 1g N/T cams
2g Intake Manifold NOT port matched to throttle body
1g Throttle body
2.4L Injectors (275cc vs. the stock 240cc)
2g fuel rail w/ 2g turbo fuel pressure regulator.

My Problem:
The engine has great low end power (kind of a rough idle under 900 RPMs) but at 4,500 RPMs where it should start getting all its power, the engine just seems to struggle! It's not a bogging or stuttering that I get, it's more like starvation. The engine actually starts to get a bit louder but it doesn't sound like horsepower, it sounds like an intake whine or so?
I used to own a 96 Talon N/T that would feel like it wanted to fly at >4,500 RPMs! The Talon didn't have the restrictive MAF that the 92 I own now has (which may not even be a problem). I never drove a 1g Eclipse N/T before so I don't know if this is normal or what.

Well first off you added bigger injectors to a car that does not need them. Putting those injectors in are causing your fuel trims to be all over the place and will make your car run worse. I would start off with putting your old injectors back in and unplug the battery for 15 min to reset the ECU and then get back to us on how she feels.

+1 on stock injectors! I have owned 3 N/T 1g's and they are extremely fun to drive and very powerful if properly tuned / maintained. The biggest thing is get those stock injectors back in, reset your ECU, and check your timing. It should be at 5 degrees BTDC (The first mark after 0º TDC). Don't forget about the ground plug behind the battery when setting timing. If you have not done so already and want more power, hack the MAF can. NOT the MAF! Open it up as much as possible without messing up the mounts.

That's your problem its a NON turbo dsm. JK JK..

Just let they are saying you need your stock injector on there.

You are injecting WAY too much fuel with the larger injectors and using a 2g FPR. The NA and turbo regulators perform differently even though both the 1g NA and 2g turbo are at 43 psi.

The ECU is programed for a set amount of fuel. If you change the fuel you need to change the code in the ECU to properly allow more fuel to enter.

I was thinking the injectors were my problem but I read in so many threads that the stock ecu would handle up to 390cc injectors. Also, how can I cheaply open up or delete the restrictive MAF sensor? I want to eventually open up the exhaust and install some mild street cams.

So? Anybody got any ideas on a cheap MAF delete?

You do understand you have a naturally aspirated 9:1 CR tired 2.0L engine. Im sure that engine is not sucking in enough air to even worry about the maf being a restriction. Just drive the car and look into adding a turbo or save up and buy one that already has one. We don't have crazy high compression ratio engines and a valve train that changes as we rev higher(Hondas LOL) so the power just is not there.
