Well...i've posted this in a few other forums...figured i'd post this here as well. Some of you can probably appreciate how clean this car is...and how lucky i was to find it.

Well, after purchasing a house and getting rid of a few vehicles...i'm finally able to start on my 91 gsx. The goal of this car is to make it a fast, reliable, easy to drive second vehicle with cold ac and somewhat soft suspension. Every part on the car will reflect what i've learned (or failed to learn) from screwing around with dsm's over the past 3-4 years.

I'm also including a price list to help illustrate what this costs.

I purchased the Tan Car for 1100.
I purchased a Parts Car for 1100. (came with motor, transmission, shocks/springs/exhaust/downpipe, supra fuel pump)
4bolt Rear: 275
extreme PSI FMIC: 850
shep tranny: 1800
Twin Disk Setup: 700
New Brake Pads: 100
New Rotors: 100

Total Price So Far (a few things i've yet to buy...but will)
~6000 Dollars

Current Plans for the car are as follows...with a brief description why...

Good Condition 4g63 (stock rods, stock pistons, new headgasket, new belts)

Shep Tranny (most likely a stage 3 with 4spider center differential)

Quartermaster Twin Disk (pedal feel is softer than ACT, more forgiving)

2inch lowering springs, Tokico Shocks (from the parts car i purchased)

2.5 inch downpipe, 3inch exhaust (enough to make 350-400whp)

Evo3 16g (will make 350hp at 20psi)

Extreme PSI FMIC Setup (fits well, reasonably priced)

4bolt rear (stronger than the 3bolt rear)

Twin Piston Front Calipers

here are a few pics...

Looks very nice man. I'm jealous of your rare find though :(.

About them foggers ;)..

its been awhile since i last posted...mainly because i'm been really busy trying to get my house prepared for christmas...when my mom, sister, best friend and his parents will be here for dinner.

in any case...the theme today is stainless steel and custom lines...

pictured first is the custom clutch line i had made...since i damaged the original hard line uninstalling the abs lines. i also picked up a set of evo8 injectors.

next, is a picture of the custom oil cooler lines which i had to relocate to accommodate the fmic.

and then, a picture of the driver side goodrich brake line. next...i'll have pics of the rear.

wow man. Thats comin along awesome:thumb: . REALLY JEALOUS, but my appreciation for the car overrides that. I think we all wish we had the time and money to build up our dsms. *sigh* but sadly working a part time minimum wage job and being only 16 kinda limits your options:( . But great work man. Its gonna be awesome!:thumb: cant wait to see it finished.

i'm very thankful to be able to fund a project like this...and i'm also 26 years old...with a decent paying job. this has been something i've wanted to do for a long time...

thanks for the compliments.

First of all, awesome job on the car dude, clean simple, put together well, i like it, i have a 1g just like that awd, but its gunmetel... i mean the paint ofcourse, i hope to get working on it soon i just hope that it goes as well and clean as your's has, keep up the hard work:thumb:

4bolt Rear..... $275
extreme PSI FMIC..... $850

well...i have to admit i occasionally make some compromises...

here we are at a christmas party recently :-( i spent 300 on clothes...in order to "look presentable" and had a terrible time. otherwise though...she just lets me do my thing without too much complaining...

i have some major updates...

and they are as follows.

well today i made more progress...and while it may not seem like much...i have really enjoyed taking my time on every aspect of the car.

i focused mainly on the thermostat housing...where i replaced both gaskets, the thermostat itself and picked up a brand new OEM radiator cap (price 17.99 and worth every penny), new OEM upper radiator hose, new OEM lower radiator hose, new OEM hose clamps, and thats about it...that i can think of.

i also installed the upper ic piping and discovered that i'm in need of a 2inch t-clamp. i'll pick this up tomorrow and finish installing the ic piping...then wire the 2g mas, then install the brand new OEM knock sensor.

after that i only have a few more misc things to do...and the car should be ready to fire.

here are two new pics.

well, the car runs.

just need a boost controller, rear brake caliper and new rear brake pads...and then its ready for a test drive.

plus i need to clean the engine bay up...tuck some of the vacuum lines...and make it all a little nicer to look at.

just did the rear brakes...and added rear diff fluid. (new pads, rotors, calipers)

next, i need to bleed the brake system and add fluid to the t-case.

Thats a well organized project you have there Chet. I wish mine was half as good :coy: . Where did you get that slim fan? I need the exact same thing now that I have a FMIC.

extremepsi.com

greay guys, i highly recommend them.

Wow Very nice, Looks just like mine but alot cleaner.

I also couldnt help but notice, you are expecting to get roughly 350 whp with 20 psi on the evo 3 16g, mind you that the e316g is a great turbo and has been proven to make over 400 whp but its not that easy to make nearly 400whp with the mods you listed at only 20 psi, my car has basicly the same mods, including the fresh 4g63 rebuild and i doubt im making 350 whp on my evo 3 16g. maybe try a little larger injectors then the evo 8 which are 560cc's i believe, try going with a 650-750, because im on 650cc's now and on 26 psi im maxing them out. And i also couldnt help but notice that , there was no mention of engine management anywhere which you are going to need to tune with, ecspecially with larger injectors. hope this helps :thumb:

Really nice man, I wish I lived in a state where we dont have salt or bad road grime of the such... Only have 1 thing you should look at though man......look at the oil cooler setup again....having the feeds on the bottom could make air bubbles or what not accumulate on the top of the cooler......I myself have a 91 AWD with a 90 oil cooler on it...I bought the oil cooler with Stainless Steel Braided Lines from DSMotorsport.com...... cost about 100 dollars and includes a 20,500 BTU(I believe) oil/tranny cooler....Look in the tech section where 1 of our sponsered drivers installed it on his 1GB nt w/turbo I belive its Mavesky...<<Sp?

I'm at the very end of my build also spent about 8k maybe more on mine though....and been waiting 2 1/2 years to drive mine.....

i have a friend of mine making a chipped ecu for me...and i may upgrade to larger injectors if the setup is in need of additional fuel. with a knob style safc, chipped ecu, evo3 16g and bone stock motor without cams my colt is making about 320-330whp. this is at 18psi or so with a less sophisticated setup (older evo1 fmic, longer piping, etc).

once i dyno the car i'll post numbers...and when i take this thing to the track i'll again post numbers. in the past i've been able to get away with less mods because of the friends i have in this area who are able to get everythign out of their setup...and help me with mine at the same time.

they include mike knott and joe bucci with the goodwill laser, tom noonan with the 11.40@118mph evo3 powered galant and lancerman with his low 10sec 94 mirage coupe.

i'll keep everyone posted on the progress.

the car did have a blown motor when i bought it...

otherwise...i think i got a pretty good deal because it is so clean.
