Well...i've posted this in a few other forums...figured i'd post this here as well. Some of you can probably appreciate how clean this car is...and how lucky i was to find it.

Well, after purchasing a house and getting rid of a few vehicles...i'm finally able to start on my 91 gsx. The goal of this car is to make it a fast, reliable, easy to drive second vehicle with cold ac and somewhat soft suspension. Every part on the car will reflect what i've learned (or failed to learn) from screwing around with dsm's over the past 3-4 years.

I'm also including a price list to help illustrate what this costs.

I purchased the Tan Car for 1100.
I purchased a Parts Car for 1100. (came with motor, transmission, shocks/springs/exhaust/downpipe, supra fuel pump)
4bolt Rear: 275
extreme PSI FMIC: 850
shep tranny: 1800
Twin Disk Setup: 700
New Brake Pads: 100
New Rotors: 100

Total Price So Far (a few things i've yet to buy...but will)
~6000 Dollars

Current Plans for the car are as follows...with a brief description why...

Good Condition 4g63 (stock rods, stock pistons, new headgasket, new belts)

Shep Tranny (most likely a stage 3 with 4spider center differential)

Quartermaster Twin Disk (pedal feel is softer than ACT, more forgiving)

2inch lowering springs, Tokico Shocks (from the parts car i purchased)

2.5 inch downpipe, 3inch exhaust (enough to make 350-400whp)

Evo3 16g (will make 350hp at 20psi)

Extreme PSI FMIC Setup (fits well, reasonably priced)

4bolt rear (stronger than the 3bolt rear)

Twin Piston Front Calipers

installed a 4bolt rear...friend of mine did most of the work.

i was busy taking pics...and ended up selling my 95 gst to someone while the 3bolt was out of the car.

with a shep tranny, twin disk, this car will be reliable to 500whp.

What kind of paint did you use on the Thermal? How long does the company say it will last?

i used high temp ceramic paint from discount auto. i've used this paint on mufflers before and it seems to hold up really well. keep in mind that i'm basing this on beautiful florida weather where we don't see any salt, ice or harsh winter like conditions which may contribute to paint failure.

a few more updates...

things are really coming together now.

Built 91 Tranny is together, with upgraded synchros and 4spider center diff.

Clutch setup (quartermaster twin) is together)

also pictured...is the tilton setup i'll be running in the white car.

I love build threads. You got a heck of a good deal for what appears to be a pristine 1G. Paint, interior, everything looks really good.

Keep us updated on your progress, everything looks awesome so far though!

Good looking car and a great thread to go with it. I kind of wait around like an expectant father waiting for the finished result but it's worth it.

Nice job so far Chet.

Cheers,

Andy

believe me...i've been ready a few times to just have the car be finished. fortunately, its lack of time that is keeping me from finishing the car...not money.

i have spent more than i expected...but i think that is always the case...plus i wanted to cover my bases completely and make the car jsut the way i wanted it from the very beginning.

in other words...i hope to do it right the first time...and down the road add rods/pistons/3052 or something similar along with aem etc.

i want the car to retain ac, and i want it to retain all of the nice features a daily driver usually has (in order to keep the gf happy...who puts up with the hobby...at least to a certain extent) although...this is how she usually looks when i spend too much time working on these pieces of shit. (i call it, the "i'd rather be at the mall shopping...than sitting around at the house while you work on your stupid car" look)

it was garage kept...as best i can tell...

it was also stored at my facility for about 6 months...

otherwise, it was just taken care of and not abused...ie girl driven.

here are a few more pics.

slim fans arrived...

and the 90 air cooled oil cooler is also mounted...

anyone know where i can get aftermarket lines for the oil cooler?

i'd like to put the cooler here...but the lines are barely long enough to reach the oil housing.

Aftermarket lines for oil cooler? Could you possibly rig up a stainless braided hose? Btw, you gonna put the fogs back on ;). If not PM me.

i think i threw the fog lights out...but i can check.

i've located some lines for the oil cooler...and should have them by monday or tuesday.

next, is installing the 2g big brakes and front axles...and wiring up the 10'' slim fan.

monday is also the day when all of my stuff comes back from the ceramic coater...

a few more updates...

installed the passenger side dual piston calipers/rotors/hawk brake pads. just discovered the driver side wheel bearing needs replacing.

here are a few pics...
