Pulled the tranny because the clutch was slipping so bad. While its out I was just messing around, grabbed the flywheel with both hands and it will move back and forth about 1/16". No play up and down however.

Just rebuilt this thing 20,000 miles ago... :rolleyes:
 
If it isn't one thing, it's another. good luck with it, sounds like an rebuild error if it was done 20k miles ago...

If it makes you feel anybetter, i contracted a case of rod knock today.
 
Are you considering rebuilding the whole thing again, or just a new crank and bearings?
 
Did you alighn the thrust bearings when you did the rebuild? What was your thrust clearance.
 
By chance did you install Main studs? If so I'm willing to bet that your main caps wern't aligned which can lead to excessive bearning wear and crankwalk. I'm installing Main Studs and line honing the block in just a few days..
